In pci_mmconfig_insert(), there's no reference to "addr" between locking pci_mmcfg_lock and testing "addr", so it *looks* like we should move the test before the lock. But07f9b61c39("x86/PCI: MMCONFIG: Check earlier for MMCONFIG region at address zero") did that, which broke things by returning -EINVAL when "addr" is zero instead of -EEXIST. So07f9b61c39was reverted by67d470e0e1("Revert "x86/PCI: MMCONFIG: Check earlier for MMCONFIG region at address zero""). Add a comment about this issue to prevent it from happening again. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
