We have a board where the reset pin of the ad74412 is connected to a gpio, but also pulled low (i.e., asserted) by default. Hence to get the chip out of reset, the driver needs to know about that gpio and deassert the reset signal before attempting to communicate with the chip. When a reset-gpio is given in device tree, use that instead of the software reset. According to the data sheet, the two methods are functionally equivalent. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
