IMA testing revealed that after an ext4 remount, file accesses triggered full measurements even without modifications, instead of skipping as expected when i_version is unchanged. Debugging showed `SB_I_VERSION` was cleared in reconfigure_super() during remount due to commit1ff2030739("ext4: unconditionally enable the i_version counter") removing the fix from commit960e0ab63b("ext4: fix i_version handling on remount"). To rectify this, `SB_I_VERSION` is always set for `fc->sb_flags` in ext4_init_fs_context(), instead of `sb->s_flags` in __ext4_fill_super(), ensuring it persists across all mounts. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
