Commit63f3655f95("mm, memcg: fix reclaim deadlock with writeback") fix the following ABBA deadlock by pre-allocating the pte page table without holding the page lock. lock_page(A) SetPageWriteback(A) unlock_page(A) lock_page(B) lock_page(B) pte_alloc_one shrink_page_list wait_on_page_writeback(A) SetPageWriteback(B) unlock_page(B) # flush A, B to clear the writeback Commitf9ce0be71d("mm: Cleanup faultaround and finish_fault() codepaths") reworked the relevant code but ignored this race. This will cause the deadlock above to appear again, so fix it. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
