When CONFIG_KASAN_SW_TAGS is enabled, ptr_addr might be tagged. Normally, this doesn't cause any issues, as both set_freepointer() and get_freepointer() are called with a pointer with the same tag. However, there are some issues with CONFIG_SLUB_DEBUG code. For example, when __free_slub() iterates over objects in a cache, it passes untagged pointers to check_object(). check_object() in turns calls get_freepointer() with an untagged pointer, which causes the freepointer to be restored incorrectly. Add kasan_reset_tag to freelist_ptr(). Also add a detailed comment. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
