In some cases we already read the value from the register followed by a reading of it again for other purposes, but the both reads are under the lock and bits we are insterested in are not going to change (they are not volatile from HW perspective). There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
