QUEUE_FLAG_NOMERGES isn't really a driver interface, but a user tunable. There also isn't any good reason to set it in the loop driver. The original commit adding it (5b5e20f421"block: loop: set QUEUE_FLAG_NOMERGES for request queue of loop") claims that "It doesn't make sense to enable merge because the I/O submitted to backing file is handled page by page." which of course isn't true for multi-page bvec now, and it never has been for direct I/O, for which commit40326d8a33("block/loop: allow request merge for directio mode") alredy disabled the nomerges flag. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
