Clang builds with defconfig started crashing after the following commit:fb43d6cb91("x86/mm: Do not auto-massage page protections") This was caused by introducing a new global access in __startup_64(). Code in __startup_64() can be relocated during execution, but the compiler doesn't have to generate PC-relative relocations when accessing globals from that function. Clang actually does not generate them, which leads to boot-time crashes. To work around this problem, every global pointer must be adjusted using fixup_pointer(). In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
