Kconfig symbols should not declare dependency on DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER. Move all parts of DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER to an if DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER block. It is not possible to make those symbols select DRM_DISPLAY_HELPER because of the link issues when a part of the helper is selected to be built-in, while other part is selected to be as module. In such a case the modular part doesn't get built at all, leading to undefined symbols. The only viable alternative is to split drm_display_helper.ko into several small modules, each of them having their own dependencies. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the reStructuredText markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
