Looks like what we fixed for hugetlb in commit44f86392bd("mm/hugetlb: fix uffd-wp handling for migration entries in hugetlb_change_protection()") similarly applies to THP. Setting/clearing uffd-wp on THP migration entries is not implemented properly. Further, while removing migration PMDs considers the uffd-wp bit, inserting migration PMDs does not consider the uffd-wp bit. We have to set/clear independently of the migration entry type in change_huge_pmd() and properly copy the uffd-wp bit in set_pmd_migration_entry(). Verified using a simple reproducer that triggers migration of a THP, that the set_pmd_migration_entry() no longer loses the uffd-wp bit. Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
