Current DRM layer functions don't parse aspect ratio information while converting a user mode->kernel mode or vice versa. This causes modeset to pick mode with wrong aspect ratio, eventually causing failures in HDMI compliance test cases, due to wrong VIC. This patch adds aspect ratio information in DRM's mode conversion and mode comparision functions, to make sure kernel picks mode with right aspect ratio (as per the VIC). Background: This patch was once reviewed and merged, and later reverted due to lack of DRM cap protection. This is a re-spin of this patch, this time with DRM cap protection, to avoid aspect ratio information, when the client doesn't request for it. Linux kernel ============ This file was moved to Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst Please notice that there are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``. There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory, several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation. See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file. Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
