Commit93ee31f14f("[NET]: Fix free_netdev on register_netdev failure.") moved net_set_todo() outside of rollback_registered() so that rollback_registered() can be used in the failure path of register_netdevice() but without risking a double free. Since commitcf124db566("net: Fix inconsistent teardown and release of private netdev state."), however, we have a better way of handling that condition, since destructors don't call free_netdev() directly. After the change in commitc269a24ce0("net: make free_netdev() more lenient with unregistering devices") we can now move net_set_todo() back. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
