If there is a significant amount of chains list search is too slow, so add an rhlist table for this. This speeds up ruleset loading: for every new rule we have to check if the name already exists in current generation. We need to be able to cope with duplicate chain names in case a transaction drops the nfnl mutex (for request_module) and the abort of this old transaction is still pending. The list is kept -- we need a way to iterate chains even if hash resize is in progress without missing an entry. Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
See Documentation/00-INDEX for a list of what is contained in each file.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
