The shutdown function halts all DMA and interrupts, so that all operations are discontinued when the system shuts down, e.g. via kexec or a forced reboot. These guides can be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or ``make pdfdocs``.
