Pull tracing fixes from Steven Rostedt: - Free field in error path of synthetic event parse In __create_synth_event() the field was allocated but was not freed in the error path - Fix ring_buffer_event_length() on 8 byte aligned architectures On architectures with CONFIG_HAVE_64BIT_ALIGNED_ACCESS set to y, the ring_buffer_event_length() may return the wrong size. This is because archs with that config set will always use the "big event meta header" as that is 8 bytes keeping the payload 8 bytes aligned, even when a 4 byte header could hold the size of the event But ring_buffer_event_length() doesn't take this into account and only subtracts 4 bytes for the meta header in the length when it should have subtracted 8 bytes - Have osnoise wait for a full rcu synchronization on unregister osnoise_unregister_instance() used to call synchronize_rcu() before freeing its copy of the instance but was switched to kfree_rcu(). The osniose tracer has code that traverses the instances that it uses, and inst is just a pointer to that instance. By using kfree_rcu() instead of synchronize_rcu(), the instance that the inst pointer is pointing to can be freed while the osnoise code is still referencing it That is, a rmdir on an instance first unregisters the tracer. When the unregister finishes, the rmdir expects that the tracer is finished with the instance that it is using. By putting back the synchronize_rcu() in osnoise_unregister_instance() the unregistering of osnoise will now return when all the users of the instance have finished - Remove an unused setting of "ret" in tracing_set_tracer() - Fix ring_buffer_read_page() copying events The commit that changed ring_buffer_read_page() to show dropped events from the buffer itself, split the "commit" variable between the commit value (with flags) and "size" that holds the size of the sub-buffer. A cut and paste error changed the test of the reading from checking the size of the buffer to the size of the event causing reads to only read one event at a time - Make tracepoint_printk a static variable When the tracing sysctl knobs were move from sysctl.c to trace.c, the variable tracepoint_printk no longer needed to be global. Make it static - Fix some typos - Fix NULL pointer dereference in func_set_flag() The flags update of the function tracer first checks if the value of the flag is the same and exits if they are, and then it checks if the current tracer is the function tracer and exits if it isn't. The problem is that these checks need to be in a reversed order, as if the tracer isn't the function tracer, then the flag being checked may not exist. Reverse the order of these checks - Fix ufs core trace events to not dereference a pointer in TP_printk() The TP_printk() part of the TRACE_EVENT() macro is called when the user reads the "trace" file. This can be seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, and even months after the data was recorded into the ring buffer. Thus, saving a pointer to an object into the ring buffer and then dereferencing it from TP_printk() can cause harm as the object the pointer is pointing to may no longer exist Fix all the trace events in ufs core to save the device name in the ring buffer instead of dereferencing the device descriptor from TP_printk() - Prevent out-of-bound reads in glob matching of trace events The filter logic of events allows simple glob logic to add wild cards to filter on strings. But some events have fields that may not have a terminating 'nul' character. This may cause the glob matching to go beyond the string. Change the logic to always pass in the length of the field that is being matched - Add no-rcu-check version of trace_##event##_enabled() The trace_##event##_enabled() usually wraps trace events to do extra work that is only needed when the trace event is enabled. But this can hide events that are placed in locations where RCU is not watching, and can make lockdep not see these bugs when the event is not enabled The trace_##event##_enabled() was updated to always test to make sure RCU is watching to catch locations that may call events without RCU being active This caused a false positive for the irq_disabled() and related events. As that use trace_irq_disabled_enabled() to force RCU to be watching when the event is enabled via the ct_irq_enter() function, calls the event, and then calls ct_irq_exit() to put RCU back to its original state The trace_irq_disabled_enabled() should not trigger a warning when RCU is not watching because the code within its block handles the case properly. Make a __trace_##event##_enabled() version for this event to use that doesn't check RCU is watching as it handles the case when it isn't - Fix use-after-free in user_event_mm_dup() When the enabler is removed from the link list, it is freed immediately. But it is protected via RCU and needs to be freed after an RCU grace period. Use queue_rcu_work() so that the event_mutex can also be taken as user_event_put() takes the mutex on the last reference is released - Free type string in error path of parse_synth_field() There's an error path in parse_synth_field() where the allocated type string is not freed - Add selftest that tests deferred event teardown - Fix leak in error path of trace_remote_alloc_buffer() If page allocation fails, the desc->nr_cpus is not incremented for the current CPU and the allocations done for it are not freed - Fix allocation length in trace_remote_alloc_buffer() The logic to calculate the struct_len was doing a double count and setting the value too large. samples/damon/mtier: fail early if address range parameters are invalid
The comment on top of `struct damon_region` clearly says that
For any use case, @ar should be non-zero positive size.
which is now verified in damon_verify_new_region() if the kernel is built
with DAMON_DEBUG_SANITY.
The WARN_ONCE() can be triggered if the mtier sample module is enabled
before node{0,1}_{start,end}_addr have been properly initialized, which is
obviously not good.

Note that the same issue can happen if detect_node_addresses is true, and
node 0 or 1 is memoryless. Fix it together by checking the validity of
parameters right before damon_new_region() and fail early if they're

tracing/events: Fix to check the simple_tsk_fn creation
Sashiko pointed that this sample code does not correctly handle the
failure of thread creation because kthread_run() can return -errno.
Check the simple_tsk_fn is correctly initialized (created) or not.

Fix missing match data for PRP0001 by exporting
acpi_of_match_device()
- Auxiliary:
Replace drvdata() with dedicated registration data on
auxiliary_device. drvdata() exposed the driver's bus device private
data beyond the driver's own scope, creating ordering constraints
and forcing the data to outlive all registrations that access it.
Registration data is instead scoped structurally to the
Registration object, making lifecycle ordering enforced by
construction rather than convention.
- Rust-native device driver lifetimes (HRT):
Allow Rust device drivers to carry a lifetime parameter on their
bus device private data, tied to the device binding scope -- the
interval during which a bus device is bound to a driver. Device
resources like pci::Bar<'a> and IoMem<'a> can be stored directly in
the driver's bus device private data with a lifetime bounded by the
binding scope, so the compiler enforces at build time that they do
not outlive the binding. This removes Devres indirection from every
access site and eliminates try_access() failure paths in
destructors.
Bus driver traits use a Generic Associated Type (GAT) Data<'bound>
to introduce the lifetime on the private data, rather than
parameterizing the Driver trait itself. Auxiliary registration
data, where the lifetime is not introduced by a trait callback but
must be threaded through Registration, uses the ForLt trait (a
type-level abstraction for types generic over a lifetime).

- Fix DT overlayed devices not probing by reverting the broken
treewide overlay fix and re-running fw_devlink consumer pickup when
an overlay is applied to a bound device
- Use root_device_register() for faux bus root device; add sanity

rust: pci: make Bar lifetime-parameterized
Convert pci::Bar<SIZE> to pci::Bar<'a, SIZE>, storing &'a Device<Bound> to tie the BAR mapping lifetime to the device. iomap_region_sized() now returns Result<Bar<'a, SIZE>> directly instead of impl PinInit<Devres<Bar<SIZE>>, Error>. Since the lifetime ties the mapping to the device's bound state, callers no longer need Devres for the common case where the Bar lives in the driver's private data. Add Bar::into_devres() to consume the bar and register it as a device-managed resource, returning Devres<Bar<'static, SIZE>>. The lifetime is erased to 'static because Devres guarantees the bar does not actually outlive the device -- access is revoked on unbind. Add a registration_data pointer to struct auxiliary_device, allowing the registering (parent) driver to attach private data to the device at registration time and retrieve it later when called back by the auxiliary (child) driver. By tying the data to the device's registration, Rust drivers can bind the lifetime of device resources to it, since the auxiliary bus guarantees that the parent driver remains bound while the auxiliary device is bound. On the Rust side, Registration<T> takes ownership of the data via ForeignOwnable. A TypeId is stored alongside the data for runtime type checking, making Device::registration_data<T>() a safe method. Pull crypto library updates from Eric Biggers:
- Migrate more hash algorithms from the traditional crypto subsystem to
lib/crypto/
Like the algorithms migrated earlier (e.g. SHA-*), this simplifies
the implementations, improves performance, enables further
simplifications in calling code, and solves various other issues:
- AES CBC-based MACs (AES-CMAC, AES-XCBC-MAC, and AES-CBC-MAC)
- Support these algorithms in lib/crypto/ using the AES library
and the existing arm64 assembly code
- Reimplement the traditional crypto API's "cmac(aes)",
"xcbc(aes)", and "cbcmac(aes)" on top of the library
- Convert mac80211 to use the AES-CMAC library. Note: several
other subsystems can use it too and will be converted later
- Drop the broken, nonstandard, and likely unused support for
"xcbc(aes)" with key lengths other than 128 bits
- Enable optimizations by default
- GHASH
- Migrate the standalone GHASH code into lib/crypto/
- Integrate the GHASH code more closely with the very similar
POLYVAL code, and improve the generic GHASH implementation to
resist cache-timing attacks and use much less memory
- Reimplement the AES-GCM library and the "gcm" crypto_aead
template on top of the GHASH library. Remove "ghash" from the
crypto_shash API, as it's no longer needed
- Enable optimizations by default
- SM3
- Migrate the kernel's existing SM3 code into lib/crypto/, and
reimplement the traditional crypto API's "sm3" on top of it
- I don't recommend using SM3, but this cleanup is worthwhile
to organize the code the same way as other algorithms
- Testing improvements:
- Add a KUnit test suite for each of the new library APIs
- Migrate the existing ChaCha20Poly1305 test to KUnit
- Make the KUnit all_tests.config enable all crypto library tests
- Move the test kconfig options to the Runtime Testing menu
- Other updates to arch-optimized crypto code:
- Optimize SHA-256 for Zhaoxin CPUs using the Padlock Hash Engine
- Remove some MD5 implementations that are no longer worth keeping
- Drop big endian and voluntary preemption support from the arm64
code, as those configurations are no longer supported on arm64
- Make jitterentropy and samples/tsm-mr use the crypto library APIs

rust: dma: add zeroed constructor to Coherent
These constructors create a coherent container of a single object instead of slice. They are named `zeroed` and `zeroed_with_attrs` to emphasis that they are created initialized zeroed. It is intended that there'll be new constructors that take `PinInit` instead of zeroing. vfio: Adapt drivers to use the core helper vfio_check_precopy_ioctl
Introduce a core helper function for VFIO_MIG_GET_PRECOPY_INFO and adapt all drivers to use it. It centralizes the common code and ensures that output flags are cleared on entry, in case user opts in to VFIO_DEVICE_FEATURE_MIG_PRECOPY_INFOv2. This preventing any unintended echoing of userspace data back to userspace. vfio: mdev: replace mtty_dev->vd_class with a const struct class
The class_create() call has been deprecated in favor of class_register() as the driver core now allows for a struct class to be in read-only memory. Replace mtty_dev->vd_class with a const struct class and drop the class_create() call. Compile tested and found no errors/warns in dmesg after enabling CONFIG_VFIO and CONFIG_SAMPLE_VFIO_MDEV_MTTY. sample/tsm-mr: Use SHA-2 library APIs
Given that tsm_mr_sample has a particular set of algorithms that it
wants, just use the library APIs for those algorithms rather than
crypto_shash. This is more straightforward and more efficient.
This also fixes a bug where this module failed to build if it was
enabled without CRYPTO_HASH happening to be set elsewhere in the
kconfig. (With the concurrent change to make TSM_MEASUREMENTS stop
selecting CRYPTO, this existing build error would have become easier to
encounter, as well.) Also, even if it built, crypto_alloc_shash() could
fail at runtime due to the needed algorithms not being available.
The library functions simply use direct linking. So if it builds, which
it will due to the kconfig options being selected, they are available.

rust: dma: use pointer projection infra for dma_{read,write} macro
Current `dma_read!`, `dma_write!` macros also use a custom
`addr_of!()`-based implementation for projecting pointers, which has
soundness issue as it relies on absence of `Deref` implementation on types.
It also has a soundness issue where it does not protect against unaligned
fields (when `#[repr(packed)]` is used) so it can generate misaligned
accesses.
This commit migrates them to use the general pointer projection
infrastructure, which handles these cases correctly.
As part of migration, the macro is updated to have an improved surface
syntax. The current macro have
dma_read!(a.b.c[d].e.f)
to mean `a.b.c` is a DMA coherent allocation and it should project into it
with `[d].e.f` and do a read, which is confusing as it makes the indexing
operator integral to the macro (so it will break if you have an array of
`CoherentAllocation`, for example).
This also is problematic as we would like to generalize
`CoherentAllocation` from just slices to arbitrary types.
Make the macro expects `dma_read!(path.to.dma, .path.inside.dma)` as the
canonical syntax. The index operator is no longer special and is just one
type of projection (in additional to field projection). Similarly, make
`dma_write!(path.to.dma, .path.inside.dma, value)` become the canonical
syntax for writing.
Another issue of the current macro is that it is always fallible. This
makes sense with existing design of `CoherentAllocation`, but once we
support fixed size arrays with `CoherentAllocation`, it is desirable to
have the ability to perform infallible indexing as well, e.g. doing a `[0]`
index of `[Foo; 2]` is okay and can be checked at build-time, so forcing
falliblity is non-ideal. To capture this, the macro is changed to use
`[idx]` as infallible projection and `[idx]?` as fallible index projection
(those syntax are part of the general projection infra). A benefit of this
is that while individual indexing operation may fail, the overall
read/write operation is not fallible.

workqueue: Add stall detector sample module
Add a sample module under samples/workqueue/stall_detector/ that reproduces a workqueue stall caused by PF_WQ_WORKER misuse. The module queues two work items on the same per-CPU pool, then clears PF_WQ_WORKER and sleeps in wait_event_idle(), hiding from the concurrency manager and stalling the second work item indefinitely.
