1caa71a7a6 KVM: arm64: Restore GICv2-on-GICv3 functionality
When reworking the vgic locking, the vgic distributor registration
got simplified, which was a very good cleanup. But just a tad too
radical, as we now register the *native* vgic only, ignoring the
GICv2-on-GICv3 that allows pre-historic VMs (or so I thought)
to run.

As it turns out, QEMU still defaults to GICv2 in some cases, and
this breaks Nathan's setup!

Fix it by propagating the *requested* vgic type rather than the
host's version.

0c2f9acf6a KVM: arm64: PMU: Don't overwrite PMUSERENR with vcpu loaded
Currently, with VHE, KVM sets ER, CR, SW and EN bits of
PMUSERENR_EL0 to 1 on vcpu_load(), and saves and restores
the register value for the host on vcpu_load() and vcpu_put().
If the value of those bits are cleared on a pCPU with a vCPU
loaded (armv8pmu_start() would do that when PMU counters are
programmed for the guest), PMU access from the guest EL0 might
be trapped to the guest EL1 directly regardless of the current
PMUSERENR_EL0 value of the vCPU.

Fix this by not letting armv8pmu_start() overwrite PMUSERENR_EL0
on the pCPU where PMUSERENR_EL0 for the guest is loaded, and
instead updating the saved shadow register value for the host
so that the value can be restored on vcpu_put() later.
While vcpu_{put,load}() are manipulating PMUSERENR_EL0, disable
IRQs to prevent a race condition between these processes and IPIs
that attempt to update PMUSERENR_EL0 for the host EL0.

before returning back to userspace, as the host's EL0 might have

40e54cad45 KVM: arm64: Document default vPMU behavior on heterogeneous systems
KVM maintains a mask of supported CPUs when a vPMU type is explicitly
selected by userspace and is used to reject any attempt to run the vCPU
on an unsupported CPU. This is great, but we're still beholden to the
default behavior where vCPUs can be scheduled anywhere and guest
counters may silently stop working.

Avoid confusing the next poor sod to look at this code and document the
intended behavior.

1c913a1c35 KVM: arm64: Iterate arm_pmus list to probe for default PMU
To date KVM has relied on using a perf event to probe the core PMU at
the time of vPMU initialization. Behind the scenes perf_event_init()
would iteratively walk the PMUs of the system and return the PMU that
could handle the event. However, an upcoming change in perf core will
drop the iterative walk, thereby breaking the fragile dance we do on the
KVM side.

Avoid the problem altogether by iterating over the list of supported
PMUs maintained in KVM, returning the core PMU that matches the CPU
we were called on.

f6a27d6dc5 KVM: arm64: Drop last page ref in kvm_pgtable_stage2_free_removed()
The reference count on page table allocations is increased for every
'counted' PTE (valid or donated) in the table in addition to the initial
reference from ->zalloc_page(). kvm_pgtable_stage2_free_removed() fails
to drop the last reference on the root of the table walk, meaning we
leak memory.

Fix it by dropping the last reference after the free walker returns,
at which point all references for 'counted' PTEs have been released.

811154e234 KVM: arm64: Populate fault info for watchpoint
When handling ESR_ELx_EC_WATCHPT_LOW, far_el2 member of struct
kvm_vcpu_fault_info will be copied to far member of struct
kvm_debug_exit_arch and exposed to the userspace. The userspace will
see stale values from older faults if the fault info does not get
populated.

a9f0e3d5a0 KVM: arm64: Reload PTE after invoking walker callback on preorder traversal
The preorder callback on the kvm_pgtable_stage2_map() path can replace
a table with a block, then recursively free the detached table. The
higher-level walking logic stashes the old page table entry and
then walks the freed table, invoking the leaf callback and
potentially freeing pgtable pages prematurely.

In normal operation, the call to tear down the detached stage-2
is indirected and uses an RCU callback to trigger the freeing.
RCU is not available to pKVM, which is where this bug is
triggered.

Change the behavior of the walker to reload the page table entry
after invoking the walker callback on preorder traversal, as it
does for leaf entries.

Tested on Pixel 6.

d282fa3c5c KVM: arm64: Handle trap of tagged Set/Way CMOs
We appear to have missed the Set/Way CMOs when adding MTE support.
Not that we really expect anyone to use them, but you never know
what stupidity some people can come up with...

Treat these mostly like we deal with the classic S/W CMOs, only
with an additional check that MTE really is enabled.

09cce60bdd KVM: arm64: Prevent unconditional donation of unmapped regions from the host
Since host stage-2 mappings are created lazily, we cannot rely solely on
the pte in order to recover the target physical address when checking a
host-initiated memory transition as this permits donation of unmapped
regions corresponding to MMIO or "no-map" memory.

Instead of inspecting the pte, move the addr_is_allowed_memory() check
into the host callback function where it is passed the physical address
directly from the walker.

Note that the current report, which can be triggered by the vgic_irq
kselftest, is a triple chain that includes slots_lock, but after
inverting the slots_lock/config_lock dependency, the actual problem
reported above remains.

In several places, the vgic code calls kvm_io_bus_register_dev(), which
synchronizes the srcu, while holding config_lock (#1). And the MMIO
handler takes the config_lock while holding the srcu read lock (#0).

Break dependency #1, by registering the distributor and redistributors
without holding config_lock. The ITS also uses kvm_io_bus_register_dev()
but already relies on slots_lock to serialize calls.

The distributor iodev is created on the first KVM_RUN call. Multiple
threads will race for vgic initialization, and only the first one will
see !vgic_ready() under the lock. To serialize those threads, rely on
slots_lock rather than config_lock.

Redistributors are created earlier, through KVM_DEV_ARM_VGIC_GRP_ADDR
ioctls and vCPU creation. Similarly, serialize the iodev creation with
slots_lock, and the rest with config_lock.

e910baa9c1 KVM: arm64: vgic: Add Apple M2 PRO/MAX cpus to the list of broken SEIS implementations
Unsurprisingly, the M2 PRO is also affected by the SEIS bug, so add it
to the naughty list. And since M2 MAX is likely to be of the same ilk,
flag it as well.

Pull perf tool updates from Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo:
 "Third version of perf tool updates, with the build problems with with
  using a 'vmlinux.h' generated from the main build fixed, and the bpf
  skeleton build disabled by default.

  Build:

   - Require libtraceevent to build, one can disable it using
     NO_LIBTRACEEVENT=1.

     It is required for tools like 'perf sched', 'perf kvm', 'perf
     trace', etc.

     libtraceevent is available in most distros so installing
     'libtraceevent-devel' should be a one-time event to continue
     building perf as usual.

     Using NO_LIBTRACEEVENT=1 produces tooling that is functional and
     sufficient for lots of users not interested in those libtraceevent
     dependent features.

   - Allow Python support in 'perf script' when libtraceevent isn't
     linked, as not all features requires it, for instance Intel PT does
     not use tracepoints.

   - Error if the python interpreter needed for jevents to work isn't
     available and NO_JEVENTS=1 isn't set, preventing a build without
     support for JSON vendor events, which is a rare but possible
     condition. The two check error messages:

        $(error ERROR: No python interpreter needed for jevents generation. Install python or build with NO_JEVENTS=1.)
        $(error ERROR: Python interpreter needed for jevents generation too old (older than 3.6). Install a newer python or build with NO_JEVENTS=1.)

   - Make libbpf 1.0 the minimum required when building with out of
     tree, distro provided libbpf.

   - Use libsdtc++'s and LLVM's libcxx's __cxa_demangle, a portable C++
     demangler, add 'perf test' entry for it.

   - Make binutils libraries opt in, as distros disable building with it
     due to licensing, they were used for C++ demangling, for instance.

   - Switch libpfm4 to opt-out rather than opt-in, if libpfm-devel (or
     equivalent) isn't installed, we'll just have a build warning:

       Makefile.config:1144: libpfm4 not found, disables libpfm4 support. Please install libpfm4-dev

   - Add a feature test for scandirat(), that is not implemented so far
     in musl and uclibc, disabling features that need it, such as
     scanning for tracepoints in /sys/kernel/tracing/events.

  perf BPF filters:

   - New feature where BPF can be used to filter samples, for instance:

da9619a30e dmapool: link blocks across pages
The allocated dmapool pages are never freed for the lifetime of the pool. 
There is no need for the two level list+stack lookup for finding a free
block since nothing is ever removed from the list.  Just use a simple
stack, reducing time complexity to constant.

The implementation inserts the stack linking elements and the dma handle
of the block within itself when freed.  This means the smallest possible
dmapool block is increased to at most 16 bytes to accommodate these
fields, but there are no exisiting users requesting a dma pool smaller
than that anyway.

Removing the list has a significant change in performance. Using the
kernel's micro-benchmarking self test:

Before:

The module test allocates quite a few blocks that may not accurately
represent how these pools are used in real life.  For a more marco level
benchmark, running fio high-depth + high-batched on nvme, this patch shows
submission and completion latency reduced by ~100usec each, 1% IOPs
improvement, and perf record's time spent in dma_pool_alloc/free were
reduced by half.

If debug is enabled, dmapool will poison the range, so no need to clear it
to 0 immediately before writing over it.

cc669954ab dmapool: simplify freeing
The actions for busy and not busy are mostly the same, so combine these
and remove the unnecessary function.  Also, the pool is about to be freed
so there's no need to poison the page data since we only check for poison
on alloc, which can't be done on a freed pool.

To represent the size of a single allocation, dmapool currently uses
'unsigned int' in some places and 'size_t' in other places.  Standardize
on 'unsigned int' to reduce overhead, but use 'size_t' when counting all
the blocks in the entire pool.

67a540c60c dmapool: remove checks for dev == NULL
dmapool originally tried to support pools without a device because
dma_alloc_coherent() supports allocations without a device.  But nobody
ended up using dma pools without a device, and trying to do so will result
in an oops.  So remove the checks for pool->dev == NULL since they are
unneeded bloat.

994e2419f1 nfs: fix mis-merged __filemap_get_folio() error check
Fix another case of an incorrect check for the returned 'folio' value
from __filemap_get_folio().

The failure case used to return NULL, but was changed by commit
66dabbb65d ("mm: return an ERR_PTR from __filemap_get_folio").

But in the meantime, commit ec108d3cc7 ("NFS: Convert readdir page
array functions to use a folio") added a new user of that function.

And my merge of the two did not fix this up correctly.

The ext4 merge had the same issue, but that one had been caught in
linux-next and got properly fixed while merging.

28a65b49eb nilfs2: do not write dirty data after degenerating to read-only
According to syzbot's report, mark_buffer_dirty() called from
nilfs_segctor_do_construct() outputs a warning with some patterns after
nilfs2 detects metadata corruption and degrades to read-only mode.

After such read-only degeneration, page cache data may be cleared through
nilfs_clear_dirty_page() which may also clear the uptodate flag for their
buffer heads.  However, even after the degeneration, log writes are still
performed by unmount processing etc., which causes mark_buffer_dirty() to
be called for buffer heads without the "uptodate" flag and causes the
warning.

Since any writes should not be done to a read-only file system in the
first place, this fixes the warning in mark_buffer_dirty() by letting
nilfs_segctor_do_construct() abort early if in read-only mode.

This also changes the retry check of nilfs_segctor_write_out() to avoid
unnecessary log write retries if it detects -EROFS that
nilfs_segctor_do_construct() returned.

d824ec2a15 mm: do not reclaim private data from pinned page
If the page is pinned, there's no point in trying to reclaim it. 
Furthermore if the page is from the page cache we don't want to reclaim
fs-private data from the page because the pinning process may be writing
to the page at any time and reclaiming fs private info on a dirty page can
upset the filesystem (see link below).

a6a491c048 nilfs2: fix infinite loop in nilfs_mdt_get_block()
If the disk image that nilfs2 mounts is corrupted and a virtual block
address obtained by block lookup for a metadata file is invalid,
nilfs_bmap_lookup_at_level() may return the same internal return code as
-ENOENT, meaning the block does not exist in the metadata file.

This duplication of return codes confuses nilfs_mdt_get_block(), causing
it to read and create a metadata block indefinitely.

In particular, if this happens to the inode metadata file, ifile,
semaphore i_rwsem can be left held, causing task hangs in lock_mount.

Fix this issue by making nilfs_bmap_lookup_at_level() treat virtual block
address translation failures with -ENOENT as metadata corruption instead
of returning the error code.

29417d292b mm/mmap/vma_merge: always check invariants
We may still have inconsistent input parameters even if we choose not to
merge and the vma_merge() invariant checks are useful for checking this
with no production runtime cost (these are only relevant when
CONFIG_DEBUG_VM is specified).

Therefore, perform these checks regardless of whether we merge.

This is relevant, as a recent issue (addressed in commit "mm/mempolicy:
Correctly update prev when policy is equal on mbind") in the mbind logic
was only picked up in the 6.2.y stable branch where these assertions are
performed prior to determining mergeability.

Had this remained the same in mainline this issue may have been picked up
faster, so moving forward let's always check them.
