6eba58568f usb: cdc_acm: Add quirk for Uniden BC125AT scanner
Uniden BC125AT radio scanner has a USB interface which fails to work
with the cdc_acm driver:
 usb 1-1: new full-speed USB device number 2 using uhci_hcd
 cdc_acm 1-1:1.0: Zero length descriptor references
 cdc_acm 1-1:1.0: probe with driver cdc_acm failed with error -22
 usbcore: registered new interface driver cdc_acm

Adding the NO_UNION_NORMAL quirk for the device fixes the issue:

e5ab27ddd7 USB: cdc-acm: start bulk-IN polling when ALWAYS_POLL_CTRL is set
The INGENIC 17EF:6161 touchscreen composite device has a ~55-second
watchdog that resets the USB device if the bulk-IN endpoint on the CDC
data interface goes unread.  The existing ALWAYS_POLL_CTRL quirk keeps
the notification endpoint (ctrlurb / EP 0x82) polling continuously, but
that alone is insufficient: the firmware monitors bulk-IN activity, not
just notification-endpoint activity.

Add acm_submit_read_urbs() calls to the two ALWAYS_POLL_CTRL paths that
already restart the ctrlurb:

  1. acm_probe(): start bulk reads at probe time alongside the ctrlurb,
     so the watchdog is satisfied from first bind without requiring a
     userspace process to open /dev/ttyACMn.

  2. acm_port_shutdown(): restart bulk reads after port close alongside
     the ctrlurb restart, so the watchdog keeps running when the last
     TTY user closes the port.

acm_read_bulk_callback() already resubmits each URB unconditionally on
normal completion, so once submitted the reads remain active until an
explicit kill (disconnect, suspend).  acm_submit_read_urb() is a no-op
for URBs that are already in flight (read_urbs_free bit clear), so the
existing acm_port_activate() call remains correct and races are avoided.

Tested on Lenovo Yoga Book 9 14IAH10 (83KJ): without this patch the
device resets every ~55 s when no TTY is open; with it the device
remains stable indefinitely.

5eb070769e USB: cdc-acm: Fix bit overlap and move quirk definitions to header
The VENDOR_CLASS_DATA_IFACE and ALWAYS_POLL_CTRL quirk flags added in
commit f58752ebcb ("USB: cdc-acm: Add quirks for Yoga Book 9 14IAH10
INGENIC touchscreen") were placed inside the acm_ctrl_msg() function
rather than in the header with the other quirk flags.  Then, their
values (BIT(9) and BIT(10)) collided with NO_UNION_12 which is already
BIT(9).

Move the definitions to drivers/usb/class/cdc-acm.h where they belong
and shift them to BIT(10) and BIT(11) to avoid the overlap.

121d2f682b usb: usbtmc: reject interrupt endpoints with small wMaxPacketSize
The USB488 subclass specification requires interrupt wMaxPacketSize to
be 0x02, unless the device sends vendor-specific notifications.
Endpoints that advertise less than 2 bytes for wMaxPacketSize are
unlikely to work with the current driver, as URBs will not have enough
space for interrupt headers. Considering that any notification URBs will
be ignored by the driver, reject these endpoints early during probe.

52f2ad3f7e usb: usbtmc: check URB actual_length for interrupt-IN notifications
USBTMC devices can use an optional interrupt endpoint for notification
messages. These typically contain two-byte headers indicating the
payload format, but the driver does not check if these headers are
present before accessing the data buffers. In cases where the URB
actual_length is not enough to fit these headers, the driver will either
cause an out-of-bounds read, or consume stale leftover data from a
previous notification.

Fix by checking if actual_data contains enough bytes for the headers,
otherwise resubmit URB to the interrupt endpoint.

b38e53cbfb usb: usblp: fix uninitialized heap leak via LPGETSTATUS ioctl
Just like in a previous problem in this driver, usblp_ctrl_msg() will
collapse the usb_control_msg() return value to 0/-errno, discarding the
actual number of bytes transferred.

Ideally that short command should be detected and error out, but many
printers are known to send "incorrect" responses back so we can't just
do that.

statusbuf is kmalloc(8) at probe time and never filled before the first
LPGETSTATUS ioctl.

usblp_read_status() requests 1 byte. If a malicious printer responds
with zero bytes, *statusbuf is one byte of stale kmalloc heap,
sign-extended into the local int status, which the LPGETSTATUS path then
copy_to_user()s directly to the ioctl caller.

Fix this all by just zapping out the memory buffer when allocated at
probe time.  If a later call does a short read, the data will be
identical to what the device sent it the last time, so there is no
"leak" of information happening.

7a400c6fe3 usb: usblp: fix heap leak in IEEE 1284 device ID via short response
usblp_ctrl_msg() collapses the usb_control_msg() return value to
0/-errno, discarding the actual number of bytes transferred.  A broken
printer can complete the GET_DEVICE_ID control transfer short and the
driver has no way to know.

usblp_cache_device_id_string() reads the 2-byte big-endian length prefix
from the response and trusts it (clamped only to the buffer bounds).
The buffer is kmalloc(1024) at probe time. A device that sends exactly
two bytes (e.g. 0x03 0xFF, claiming a 1023-byte ID) leaves
device_id_string[2..1022] holding stale kmalloc heap.

That stale data is then exposed:
  - via the ieee1284_id sysfs attribute (sprintf("%s", buf+2), truncated
    at the first NUL in the stale heap), and
  - via the IOCNR_GET_DEVICE_ID ioctl, which copy_to_user()s the full
    claimed length regardless of NULs, up to 1021 bytes of uninitialized
    heap, with the leak size chosen by the device.

Fix this up by just zapping the buffer with zeros before each request
sent to the device.

f58752ebcb USB: cdc-acm: Add quirks for Yoga Book 9 14IAH10 INGENIC touchscreen
The Lenovo Yoga Book 9 14IAH10 (83KJ) has a composite USB device
(17EF:6161) that controls both touchscreens via a CDC ACM interface.
Interface 0 is a standard CDC ACM control interface, but interface 1
(the data interface) incorrectly declares vendor-specific class (0xFF)
instead of USB_CLASS_CDC_DATA. cdc-acm rejects the device at probe with
-EINVAL, leaving interface 0 unbound and EP 0x82 never polled.

With no consumer polling EP 0x82, the firmware's watchdog fires every
~20 seconds and resets the USB bus, producing a continuous disconnect/
reconnect loop that prevents the touchscreens from ever initialising.

Add two new quirk flags:

VENDOR_CLASS_DATA_IFACE: Bypasses the bInterfaceClass check in
acm_probe() that would otherwise reject the vendor-class data
interface with -EINVAL.

ALWAYS_POLL_CTRL: Submits the notification URB at probe() rather than
waiting for a TTY open. This keeps EP 0x82 polled at all times,
permanently suppressing the firmware watchdog. The URB is resubmitted
after port_shutdown() and on system resume. SET_CONTROL_LINE_STATE
(DTR|RTS) is sent at probe and after port_shutdown() to complete
firmware handshake.

Note: the firmware performs exactly 4 USB connect/disconnect cycles
(~19 s each) on every cold boot before stabilising. This is a fixed
firmware property; touch is available ~75-80 s after power-on.

f97e96c303 cdc-acm: new quirk for EPSON HMD
This device has a union descriptor that is just garbage
and needs a custom descriptor.
In principle this could be done with a (conditionally
activated) heuristic. That would match more devices
without a need for defining a new quirk. However,
this always carries the risk that the heuristics
does the wrong thing and leads to more breakage.
Defining the quirk and telling it exactly what to do
is the safe and conservative approach.

Quoting the bug report:

Due to compiler optimization or CPU out-of-order execution, the
desc->length update can be reordered before the memmove. If this
happens, wdm_read() can see the new length and call copy_to_user() on
uninitialized memory. This also violates LKMM data race rules [1].

Fix it by using WRITE_ONCE and memory barriers.

14ae24cba2 usb: cdc-acm: Restore CAP_BRK functionnality to CH343
The CH343 USB/serial adapter is as buggy as it is popular (very).
One of its quirks is that despite being capable of signalling a
BREAK condition, it doesn't advertise it.

This used to work nonetheless until 66aad7d8d3 ("usb: cdc-acm:
return correct error code on unsupported break") applied some
reasonable restrictions, preventing breaks from being emitted on
devices that do not advertise CAP_BRK.

Add a quirk for this particular device, so that breaks can still
be produced on some of my machines attached to my console server.

7784caa413 USB: usbtmc: Use usb_bulk_msg_killable() with user-specified timeouts
The usbtmc driver accepts timeout values specified by the user in an
ioctl command, and uses these timeouts for some usb_bulk_msg() calls.
Since the user can specify arbitrarily long timeouts and
usb_bulk_msg() uses unkillable waits, call usb_bulk_msg_killable()
instead to avoid the possibility of the user hanging a kernel thread
indefinitely.

bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

The spec requires at least one interface respectively country.
It allows multiple ones. This needs to be clearly said in the UAPI.
This is subject to sanity checking in cdc_parse_cdc_header(), thus
we can trust the length.

Introduce a helper similar to tty_port_tty_hangup() (asynchronous) to
handle even vhangup (synchronous).

And use it on those places.

In fact, reuse the tty_port_tty_hangup()'s code and call tty_vhangup()
depending on a new bool parameter.

acb3dac280 usb: usbtmc: Fix read_stb function and get_stb ioctl
The usbtmc488_ioctl_read_stb function relied on a positive return from
usbtmc_get_stb to reset the srq condition in the driver. The
USBTMC_IOCTL_GET_STB case tested for a positive return to return the stb
to the user.

Commit: <cac01bd178d6> ("usb: usbtmc: Fix erroneous get_stb ioctl
error returns") changed the return value of usbtmc_get_stb to 0 on
success instead of returning the value of usb_control_msg which is
positive in the normal case. This change caused the function
usbtmc488_ioctl_read_stb and the USBTMC_IOCTL_GET_STB ioctl to no
longer function correctly.

Change the test in usbtmc488_ioctl_read_stb to test for failure
first and return the failure code immediately.
Change the test for the USBTMC_IOCTL_GET_STB ioctl to test for 0
instead of a positive value.

387602d8a7 usb: cdc-wdm: avoid setting WDM_READ for ZLP-s
Don't set WDM_READ flag in wdm_in_callback() for ZLP-s, otherwise when
userspace tries to poll for available data, it might - incorrectly -
believe there is something available, and when it tries to non-blocking
read it, it might get stuck in the read loop.

For example this is what glib does for non-blocking read (briefly):

  1. poll()
  2. if poll returns with non-zero, starts a read data loop:
    a. loop on poll() (EINTR disabled)
    b. if revents was set, reads data
      I. if read returns with EINTR or EAGAIN, goto 2.a.
      II. otherwise return with data

So if ZLP sets WDM_READ (#1), we expect data, and try to read it (#2).
But as that was a ZLP, and we are doing non-blocking read, wdm_read()
returns with EAGAIN (#2.b.I), so loop again, and try to read again
(#2.a.).

With glib, we might stuck in this loop forever, as EINTR is disabled
(#2.a).

12e712964f usb: cdc-acm: Fix handling of oversized fragments
If we receive an initial fragment of size 8 bytes which specifies a wLength
of 1 byte (so the reassembled message is supposed to be 9 bytes long), and
we then receive a second fragment of size 9 bytes (which is not supposed to
happen), we currently wrongly bypass the fragment reassembly code but still
pass the pointer to the acm->notification_buffer to
acm_process_notification().

Make this less wrong by always going through fragment reassembly when we
expect more fragments.

Before this patch, receiving an overlong fragment could lead to `newctrl`
in acm_process_notification() being uninitialized data (instead of data
coming from the device).

e563b01208 usb: cdc-acm: Check control transfer buffer size before access
If the first fragment is shorter than struct usb_cdc_notification, we can't
calculate an expected_size. Log an error and discard the notification
instead of reading lengths from memory outside the received data, which can
lead to memory corruption when the expected_size decreases between
fragments, causing `expected_size - acm->nb_index` to wrap.

This issue has been present since the beginning of git history; however,
it only leads to memory corruption since commit ea2583529c
("cdc-acm: reassemble fragmented notifications").

A mitigating factor is that acm_ctrl_irq() can only execute after userspace
has opened /dev/ttyACM*; but if ModemManager is running, ModemManager will
do that automatically depending on the USB device's vendor/product IDs and
its other interfaces.

b41c1fa155 USB: class: CDC-ACM: fix race between get_serial and set_serial
TIOCGSERIAL is an ioctl. Thus it must be atomic. It returns
two values. Racing with set_serial it can return an inconsistent
result. The mutex must be taken.

In terms of logic the bug is as old as the driver. In terms of
code it goes back to the conversion to the get_serial and
set_serial methods.

1607830dad Revert "usb: cdc-wdm: close race between read and workqueue"
This reverts commit 339f83612f.

It has been found to cause problems in a number of Chromebook devices,
so revert the change until it can be brought back in a safe way.

339f83612f usb: cdc-wdm: close race between read and workqueue
wdm_read() cannot race with itself. However, in
service_outstanding_interrupt() it can race with the
workqueue, which can be triggered by error handling.

Hence we need to make sure that the WDM_RESPONDING
flag is not just only set but tested.
