Pull eventpoll updates from Christian Brauner:
- eventpoll clarity refactor
The recent eventpoll UAF fixes (a6dc643c69 and follow-ups) depended
on invariants in fs/eventpoll.c that were nowhere documented and had
to be reverse-engineered from the code: the lifetime relationships
between struct eventpoll, struct epitem, and struct file, the three
removal paths coordinating via epi_fget() pins and ep->mtx, the
ovflist sentinel-encoded scan state machine, the POLLFREE
release/acquire handshake, and the loop / path check globals
serialized by epnested_mutex. The fixes were correct but the next
person to touch this code would hit the same learning curve.
This series codifies those invariants in source and tightens the
surrounding structure. No functional changes intended:
- Documentation: a top-of-file overview with field-protection
tables for struct eventpoll and struct epitem, a section
gathering the loop-check / path-check globals next to their
declarations, labelled comments on the two sides of the POLLFREE
handshake, refreshed comments on epi_fget() and ep_remove_file(),
and a docblock on ep_clear_and_put() that names its two-pass
structure as load-bearing.
- Mechanical renames: ep_refcount_dec_and_test() -> ep_put() to
pair with ep_get(), attach_epitem() -> ep_attach_file() for
ep_remove_file() symmetry, the unused depth argument dropped from
epoll_mutex_lock(), and the CONFIG_KCMP block relocated next to
CONFIG_COMPAT so the hot-path code is contiguous.
- Helper extraction: ep_insert() splits into ep_alloc_epitem() and
ep_register_epitem(), ep_clear_and_put()'s two passes become
ep_drain_pollwaits() and ep_drain_tree() so the ordering
invariant is enforced by the call sequence rather than
convention, the per-event delivery loop body becomes
ep_deliver_event(), and the ep->mtx + epnested_mutex acquisition
dance lifts out of do_epoll_ctl() into ep_ctl_lock() /
ep_ctl_unlock().
- Sentinel and predicate cleanup: the EP_UNACTIVE_PTR overload is
hidden behind named helpers (ep_is_scanning, epi_on_ovflist,
...), epi->next is renamed to epi->ovflist_next, and the boolean
predicates return bool.
- The per-CTL_ADD scratch state (tfile_check_list, path_count[],
inserting_into) moves from file-scope globals into a
stack-allocated struct ep_ctl_ctx plumbed through the loop / path
check chain.
Two follow-up fixes are included: missing kernel-doc for the new @ctx
parameters, and restoring the EP_UNACTIVE_PTR sentinel for
ctx->tfile_check_list - replacing it with NULL termination broke
ep_remove_file()'s "never listed" check for the list tail, causing a
syzbot-reported use-after-free.
- io_uring related epoll cleanups
One of the nastier things about epoll is how it allows nesting
contexts inside each other, leading to the necessity of loop
detection and the issues that have come with that. There is no reason
to support nesting on the io_uring side, so contain the damage and
disallow nested contexts from there: eventpoll gains a file based
control interface and struct epoll_filefd is renamed to epoll_key.
The io_uring side proper goes on top of this through the block tree.
- Fix epoll_wait() reporting false negatives
ep_events_available() checks ep->rdllist and ep_is_scanning() without
a lock and can race with a concurrent scan such that neither check
sees the events, causing epoll_wait() with a zero timeout to wrongly
report no events even though events are available. A sequence lock
closes the race and a reproducer is added to the eventpoll selftests.

"Features:
- Add O_EMPTYPATH to openat(2)/openat2(2). To get an operable file
descriptor from an O_PATH file descriptor it is possible to use
openat(fd, ".", O_DIRECTORY) for directories, but other file types
require going through open("/proc/<pid>/fd/<nr>") and thus depend
on a functioning procfs.
With O_EMPTYPATH an empty path string is accepted and LOOKUP_EMPTY
is set at path resolution time, allowing to reopen the file behind
the file descriptor directly. Selftests are included.
- Add an OPENAT2_REGULAR flag for openat2(2) which refuses to open
anything but regular files with the new EFTYPE error code.
This implements the "ability to only open regular files" feature
requested by userspace via uapi-group.org and protects services
from being redirected to fifos, device nodes, and friends.
All atomic_open implementations were audited for OPENAT2_REGULAR
handling. Explicit checks were added to ceph, gfs2, nfs (v4), and
cifs/smb - these are the filesystems whose atomic_open can
encounter an existing non-regular file and would otherwise call
finish_open() on it or return a misleading error code.
The remaining implementations (9p, fuse, vboxsf, nfs v2/v3) only
call finish_open() on freshly created files and use
finish_no_open() for lookup hits, letting the VFS catch non-regular
files via the do_open() safety net.
Cleanups:
- Migrate the openat2 selftests to the kselftest harness and move
them under selftests/filesystems/. The tests were written in the
early days of selftests' TAP support and the modern kselftest
harness is much easier to follow and maintain. The contents of the
tests are unchanged and the new emptypath tests are ported on top.
- Make the LAST_XXX last-type constants private to fs/namei.c. The
only user outside of fs/namei.c was ksmbd which only needs to know
whether the last component is a regular one, so
vfs_path_parent_lookup() now performs the LAST_NORM check
internally. The ints are replaced with a dedicated enum last_type"

- rhashtable: give each instance its own lockdep class
syzbot reported a circular locking dependency between ht->mutex and
fs_reclaim via the simple_xattrs rhashtable being torn down during
inode eviction.
The predicted deadlock cannot occur: rhashtable_free_and_destroy()
cancels the deferred worker before taking ht->mutex and
acquisitions on distinct rhashtables are on distinct mutexes.
Lockdep flags a cycle anyway because every ht->mutex in the kernel
shared the single static lockdep class from
rhashtable_init_noprof().
The lockdep key is lifted to a per-call-site static key so every
rhashtable instance gets its own class.
- selftests/clone3: fix misuse of the libcap library interface in the
cap_checkpoint_restore test and remove unused variables
- selftests/pid_namespace: compute the pid_max test limits
dynamically instead of hardcoding values below the kernel-enforced
minimum of PIDS_PER_CPU_MIN * num_possible_cpus() which made the
tests fail on machines with many possible CPUs
- selftests: fix the Makefile TARGETS entry for nsfs which wasn't
adjusted when the tests moved under filesystems/

Add a selftest for VXLAN vnifilter netlink notifications that verifies
RTM_NEWTUNNEL and RTM_DELTUNNEL are sent correctly when VNIs are added,
deleted, or updated, and that no spurious notifications are sent when
a VNI is re-added with the same attributes.

Fix to point the error offset correctly for eprobe argument error.
In the cleanup commit 1b8b0cd754 ("tracing/probes: Move event parameter
fetching code to common parser"), due to incorrect backward compatibility
aimed at conforming to the test specifications, the error location was set
to 0 when a non-existent formal parameter was specified for Eprobe.
However, this should be corrected in both the test and the implementation
to point correct error position.

x86:

- Silence an annoying RCU splat on (even non-KVM-related) panics.
The splat is technically legit, but in practice not an issue. To
have a race, you would need to unload the KVM modules at exactly
the time a panic happens; and speaking of incredibly rare races,
taking the locks risks introducing a deadlock if the module unload
code took the lock on a CPU that has been halted. Which seems
possibly more likely than the RCU grace period issue, so just shut
it up. This code used to be in KVM but is now outside it; but the
x86 maintainers haven't picked it up, so here we are.
- Rate-limit global clock updates once again (but without delayed
work), as KVM was subtly relying on the old rate-limiting for NPT
correction to guard against "update storms" when running without a
master clock on systems with overcommitted CPUs.
- Fix a brown paper bag goof where KVM checked if ERAPS is "dirty"
instead of marking it dirty when emulating INVPCID.
- Flush the TLB when transitioning from xAVIC => x2AVIC to ensure the
CPU TLB doesn't contain AVIC-tagged entries for the APIC base GPA.
- The top 10 commits fix buffer overflow (and potential TOC/TOU)
flaws in the page state change protocol for encrypted VMs. AI
models find it quite easily given it was reported three times, but
aren't as good at writing a comprehensive fix. There's more to
clean up in the area, which will come in 7.2"

Chris Adams reported that preserving insertion order for same-scope
addresses is causing SSH connections to be dropped after stopping a VM
while running NetworkManager.
NetworkManager caches the IPv6 address configuration, when a RA arrives,
it determines the list of addresses to configure and checks if the
addresses are already in the right order in the kernel. If they aren't,
NetworkManager removes and re-adds them to achieve the desired order.
As the order changes, NetworkManager is confused and reconfigures the
addresses on every update. In addition, this would also affect to cloud
tooling that relies on IPv6 addresses order to identify primary and
secondaries addresses.
This reverts commit cb3de96eea.

- Include execinfo.h if and only if KVM selftests are building against glibc,
and provide a test_dump_stack() for non-glibc builds.
- Fudge around an RCU splat in the emegerncy reboot code that is technically
a legitimate flaw, but in practice is a non-issue and fixing the flaw, e.g.
by adding locking, would incur meaningful risk, i.e. do more harm than good.
- Rate-limit global clock updates once again (but without delayed work), as
KVM was subtly relying on the old rate-limiting for NPT correction to guard
against "update storms" when running without a master clock on systems with
overcommitted CPUs.
- Fix a brown paper bag goof where KVM checked if ERAPS is "dirty" instead of
marking it dirty when emulating INVPCID.
- Flush the TLB when transitioning from xAVIC => x2AVIC to ensure the CPU TLB
doesn't contain AVIC-tagged entries for the APIC base GPA.

When sibling CPU exclusion occurs, a partition's effective_xcpus may be
a subset of its user_xcpus. The partcmd_update path must use
effective_xcpus instead of user_xcpus when calculating CPUs to return
to or request from the parent.
Add two test cases to verify this behavior:
1) Narrowing cpuset.cpus to only the sibling-excluded CPUs should not
return CPUs to parent that the partition never actually owned.
2) Expanding cpuset.cpus after a sibling becomes a member should
correctly request the additional CPUs from parent.

The test's set_capability() function needs to set CAP_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE
(bit 40). But libcap's API (cap_set_flag) didn't support cap 40 when the
test was written - it was too new. So the author worked around it by
casting cap_t to an assumed internal layout.
This worked with older libcap versions where cap_t pointed directly to
that layout. Newer libcap internally restructured its cap_t opaque type.
Since 2.43, libcap natively supports CAP_CHECKPOINT_RESTORE, workaround
is no longer needed. The fix directly uses the library interface.

The kselftests for nsfs where moved under filesystem/ with
commit cae73d3bdc ("seltests: move nsfs into filesystems
subfolder"). However, the kselftest TARGETS declaration was not
adjusted.
Since the kselftest Makefile ignores errors unless no target builds,
the invalid target declaration can easily be missed.
Fix this by adjusting the TARGETS accordingly.

CXL test environment hits the following error sometimes.
cxl_mem mem9: endpoint7 failed probe
All mock memdevs are platform firmware devices added by cxl_test module,
and cxl_test module also provides a platform device driver for them to
create a memdev device to CXL subsystem. cxl_test module uses
cxl_rcd/mem_single/mem arrays to store different types of mock memdevs.
CXL drivers calls registered mock functions for a mock memdev by
checking if a given memdev is in these arrays.
When cxl_test module adds these mock memdevs, it always calls
platform_device_add() before adding them to a suitable mock memdev
array. However, there is a small window where CXL drivers calls mock
function for a added memdev before it added to a mock memdev array. In
above case, cxl endpoint driver considers a added memdev was not a mock
memdev, then calling devm_cxl_endpoint_decoders_setup() for it rather
than mock_endpoint_decoders_setup().
An appropriate solution is that adding a new mock device to a mock
device array before calling platform_device_add() for it. It can
guarantee the new mock device is visible to CXL subsystem.
This patch introduces a new helped called cxl_mock_platform_device_add()
to handle the issue, and uses the function for all mock devices addition.

Add checks in the APIC bus clock test to verify that querying
KVM_CAP_X86_APIC_BUS_CYCLES_NS on the VM after changing the frequency
returns the VM's actual APIC cycle length, not KVM's default. For

<bits/endian.h> is a glibc-internal header that explicitly states it
should never be included directly:
#error "Never use <bits/endian.h> directly; include <endian.h> instead."
Replace it with the correct public header <endian.h> which works on
all C libraries including musl. Building KVM selftests with musl-gcc
fails with:
lib/elf.c:10:10: fatal error: bits/endian.h: No such file or directory

Functional coverage of nft_fib6_eval()'s nexthop enumeration over
three route shapes:
1) single external nexthop (nhid)
2) external nexthop group (nhid -> group)
3) old-style multipath (nexthop ... nexthop ...)
Each scenario places one nexthop on the input device (veth0). For
(2) and (3) the matching nexthop is the second member, so the walk
has to traverse beyond the primary nh. Two nft counters on prerouting
verify the data path: one increments only when fib reports veth0 as
the oif, the other counts "missing" results and must stay at zero.

Data adjustment cases failed with "Data exchange failed" when using IPv4
because the program did not update the IP and UDP checksums in the IPv4
branch. The issue was masked when both IPv4 and IPv6 were configured,
since the test harness prefers IPv6.
While here, generalize csum_fold_helper() to fold twice so it works for
any 32-bit input.

The run.sh script explicitly checks that CONFIG_MODULES is disabled.
By default, this config option is enabled. Explicitly disable it to be
able to run the RDS tests.
Note that writing '# CONFIG_(...) is not set' is usually recommended to
disable an option in the .config, but it looks like selftests usually
set 'CONFIG_(...)=n', which looks clearer.

Add tests for the new O_EMPTYPATH flag of openat(2)/openat2(2).
Also, the current openat2 tests include a helper header file that
defines the necessary structs and constants to use openat2(2), such as
struct open_how. This may result in conflicting definitions when the
system header openat2.h is present as well.
So add openat2.h generated by 'make headers' to the uapi header
files in ./tools/include and remove the helper file definitions of
the current openat2 selftests.

These tests were written in the early days of selftests' TAP support,
the more modern kselftest harness is much easier to follow and maintain.
The actual contents of the tests are unchanged by this change. Most of
the diff involves switching from the E_* syscall wrappers we previously
used to ASSERT_EQ(fn(...), 0) in tests and helper functions.
The first pass of the migration was done using Claude, followed by a
manual rework and review.

This is a bit ugly, but in the next patch we will move to using
kselftest_harness.h -- which doesn't play well with being included in
multiple compilation units due to duplicate function definitions.
Not including kselftest_harness.h would let us avoid this patch, but the
helpers will need include kselftest_harness.h in order to switch to
TH_LOG.

Test the scenario where a socket is inserted into a sockmap with a
BPF_SK_SKB_VERDICT program before TLS RX is configured. Previously
sk_psock_verdict_data_ready() would call tcp_read_skb() and drain the
receive queue without advancing copied_seq, causing tls_decrypt_sg()
to walk a dangling frag_list pointer (use-after-free).
The test drives the full vulnerable sequence and verifies that after
the fix recv() returns the correct decrypted data.

__bpf_dynptr_data() can return NULL (FILE dynptrs, any non-contiguous
backing). bpf_verify_pkcs7_signature() forwards the pointer to
verify_pkcs7_signature() unchecked, causing a NULL deref in
asn1_ber_decoder() reachable from a sleepable BPF LSM at lsm.s/bpf.
NULL-check both pointers and reject with -EINVAL. Mirrors the guards
already in kernel/bpf/crypto.c.
