c40ca9ef7c drm: select DRM_KMS_HELPER from DRM_GEM_SHMEM_HELPER
In the combination of DRM_KMS_HELPER=m, DRM_GEM_SHMEM_HELPER=y, DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION=y,
The shmem code fails to link against the KMS helpers:

x86_64-linux-ld: vmlinux.o: in function `drm_fbdev_shmem_driver_fbdev_probe':
(.text+0xeec601): undefined reference to `drm_fb_helper_alloc_info'
x86_64-linux-ld: (.text+0xeec633): undefined reference to `drm_fb_helper_fill_info'
x86_64-linux-ld: vmlinux.o: in function `drm_fbdev_shmem_get_page':
drm_fbdev_shmem.c:(.text+0xeec7d2): undefined reference to `drm_gem_fb_get_obj'
x86_64-linux-ld: vmlinux.o: in function `drm_fbdev_shmem_fb_mmap':
drm_fbdev_shmem.c:(.text+0xeec9f6): undefined reference to `drm_gem_fb_get_obj'
x86_64-linux-ld: vmlinux.o: in function `drm_fbdev_shmem_defio_imageblit':
(.rodata+0x5b2288): undefined reference to `drm_fb_helper_check_var'
x86_64-linux-ld: (.rodata+0x5b2290): undefined reference to `drm_fb_helper_set_par'

This can happen for a number of device drivers that select DRM_GEM_SHMEM_HELPER
without also selecting DRM_KMS_HELPER. To work around this, add another select
that forces DRM_KMS_HELPER to be built-in rather than a loadable module, but
only if FBDEV emulation is also enabled. DRM_TTM_HELPER and DRM_GEM_DMA_HELPER
look like they have the same problem in theory even if there is no possible
configuration that shows it. For consistency, do the same change to those.

2182e0f200 drm: rework FB_CORE dependency
The 'select FB_CORE' statement moved from CONFIG_DRM to DRM_CLIENT_LIB,
but there are now configurations that have code calling into fb_core
as built-in even though the client_lib itself is a loadable module:

x86_64-linux-ld: drivers/gpu/drm/drm_fb_helper.o: in function `drm_fb_helper_set_suspend':

drm_fb_helper.c:(.text+0x2e1): undefined reference to `fb_set_suspend'

In addition to DRM_CLIENT_LIB, the 'select' needs to be at least in
DRM_KMS_HELPER and DRM_GEM_SHMEM_HELPER, so add it here.

This patch is the KMS_HELPER part of [1].

22e5c7ae12 drm: Add panel backlight quirks
Panels using a PWM-controlled backlight source do not have a standard
way to communicate their valid PWM ranges.
On x86 the ranges are read from ACPI through driver-specific tables.
The built-in ranges are not necessarily correct, or may grow stale if an
older device can be retrofitted with newer panels.

Add a quirk infrastructure with which the minimum valid backlight value
can be maintained as part of the kernel.

dadd28d414 drm/client: Add client-lib module
Add drm_client_lib.ko to contain DRM's built-in client. Move the
existing client for fbdev emulation into the new module. Protect the
new module behind CONFIG_DRM_CLIENT_LIB.

The Kconfig rules separate the DRM drivers from the DRM clients. A
driver can opt into the default clients, but the user configures
each client individually. To do so, DRM drivers still select
DRM_CLIENT_SELECTION. The option is now a tristate that further
selects all dependencies of the enabled DRM clients. There's
a menu option for each client. Enabling at least one client also
selects DRM_CLIENT_SETUP, so that drivers call drm_client_setup().
New DRM clients should depend on DRM_CLIENT_SELECTION.

There are existing kernel options in drm_fb_helper.o, so leave this
file in the KMS-helper module for now.

v5:
- leave fbdev helpers in drm_kms_helper.ko for now

d07fdf9225 drm: Add client-agnostic setup helper
DRM may support multiple in-kernel clients that run as soon as a DRM
driver has been registered. To select the client(s) in a single place,
introduce drm_client_setup().

Drivers that call the new helper automatically instantiate the kernel's
configured default clients. Only fbdev emulation is currently supported.
Later versions can add support for DRM-based logging, a boot logo or even
a console.

Some drivers handle the color mode for clients internally. Provide the
helper drm_client_setup_with_color_mode() for them.

Using the new interface requires the driver to select
DRM_CLIENT_SELECTION in its Kconfig. For now this only enables the
client-setup helpers if the fbdev client has been configured by the
user. A future patchset will further modularize client support and
rework DRM_CLIENT_SELECTION to select the correct dependencies for
all its clients.

cb5164ac43 drm/panic: Add a QR code panic screen
This patch adds a new panic screen, with a QR code and the kmsg data
embedded.
If DRM_PANIC_SCREEN_QR_CODE_URL is set, then the kmsg data will be
compressed with zlib and encoded as a numerical segment, and appended
to the URL as a URL parameter. This allows to save space, and put
about ~7500 bytes of kmsg data, in a V40 QR code.
Linux distributions can customize the URL, and put a web frontend to
directly open a bug report with the kmsg data.

Otherwise the kmsg data will be encoded as a binary segment (ie raw
ascii) and only a maximum of 2953 bytes of kmsg data will be
available in the QR code.

You can also limit the QR code size with DRM_PANIC_SCREEN_QR_VERSION.

1ac6ac9ec0 drm/panic: depends on !VT_CONSOLE
The race condition between fbcon and drm_panic can only occurs if
VT_CONSOLE is set. So update drm_panic dependency accordingly.
This will make it easier for Linux distributions to enable drm_panic
by disabling VT_CONSOLE, and keeping fbcon terminal.
The only drawback is that fbcon won't display the boot kmsg, so it
should rely on userspace to do that.

08f441360f drm: move DRM-related CONFIG options into DRM submenu
When you create a submenu using the 'menu' syntax, there is no
ambiguity about its end because the code between 'menu' and 'endmenu'
becomes the submenu.

In contrast, 'menuconfig' does not have the corresponding end marker.
Instead, the end of the submenu is inferred from symbol dependencies.

This is detailed in Documentation/kbuild/kconfig-language.rst, starting
line 348. It outlines two methods to place the code under the submenu:

 (1) Open an if-block immediately after 'menuconfig', enclosing the
     submenu content within it

 (2) Add 'depends on' to every symbol intended for the submenu

Many subsystems opt for (1) because it reliably maintains the submenu
structure.

The DRM subsystem adopts (2). The submenu ends when the sequence of
'depends on DRM' breaks. It can be confirmed by running a GUI frontend
such as 'make menuconfig' and visiting the DRM menu:

    < > Direct Rendering Manager (XFree86 4.1.0 and higher DRI support) ----

If you toggle this, you will notice most of the DRM-related options
appear below it, not in the submenu.

I highly recommend the approach (1). Obviously, (2) is not reliable,
as the submenu breaks whenever someone forgets to add 'depends on DRM'.

This commit encloses the entire DRM configuration with 'if DRM' and
'endif', except for DRM_PANEL_ORIENTATION_QUIRKS.

Note:
Now, 'depends on DRM' properties inside the if-block are all redundant.
I leave it as follow-up cleanups.

f89632a9e5 drm: Add CONFIG_DRM_WERROR
Add kconfig to enable -Werror subsystem wide. This is useful for
development and CI to keep the subsystem warning free, while avoiding
issues outside of the subsystem that kernel wide CONFIG_WERROR=y might
hit.

3a63826c72 drm/mm: Allow CONFIG_DRM_MM_DEBUG with DRM=m
The original rationale for
commit cd456f8d06 ("drm: Restrict stackdepot usage to builtin drm.ko")
was that depot_save_stack() (which is what we used back then)
wasn't exported. stack_depot_save() (which is what we use now) is
exported however, so relax the dependency allow CONFIG_DRM_MM_DEBUG
with DRM=m.
