rfcomm_recv_frame() casts skb->data to struct rfcomm_hdr and dereferences
hdr->addr and hdr->ctrl without validating skb->len first. A truncated
frame with skb->len less than the minimum header size causes an
out-of-bounds read of uninitialized memory. Additionally, a zero-length
frame causes skb->len-- to underflow to UINT_MAX, making
skb_tail_pointer() read far past the buffer.
Commit 23882b828c ("Bluetooth: RFCOMM: validate skb length in MCC
handlers") fixed the same class of missing-length-check bugs in the MCC
sub-handlers, but the top-level rfcomm_recv_frame() was left unfixed.

rfcomm_tty_set_termios() tests dlc->session without rfcomm_mutex and
later passes the pointer to rfcomm_send_rpn(). The latter dereferences
both session->initiator and session->sock. Meanwhile, krfcommd can
unlink the DLC and free the session while holding rfcomm_mutex.
The race can proceed as follows:

Add rfcomm_dlc_send_rpn(), which holds rfcomm_mutex while it verifies
that the DLC is still attached and sends the RPN frame. Have the TTY
path use the helper and drop its unlocked session check. This keeps the
session valid through both the frame construction and socket send.

Many bluetooth source files are missing SPDX-License-Identifier
lines. Add appropriate IDs to these files, and remove other
license lines from the headers.
Leave the warranty disclaimer in files where the license ID is
GPL-2.0 but the wording of the disclaimer is slightly different
from that of the GPL v2 disclaimer.
It is not different enough to cause licensing conflicts, but is
kept to honor the original contributors' legal intent.

Convert RFCOMM socket's getsockopt implementation to use the new
getsockopt_iter callback with sockopt_t.
Key changes:
- Replace (char __user *optval, int __user *optlen) with sockopt_t *sopt
- Use sopt->optlen for buffer length (input)
- Use copy_to_iter() instead of put_user()/copy_to_user()
- Add linux/uio.h for copy_to_iter()
The sockopt_t parameter is named sopt rather than opt to avoid
collision with the existing local u32 opt used by RFCOMM_LM.

The RFCOMM MCC handlers cast skb->data to protocol-specific structs
without validating skb->len first. A malicious remote device can send
truncated MCC frames and trigger out-of-bounds reads in these handlers.
Fix this by using skb_pull_data() to validate and access the required
data before dereferencing it.
rfcomm_recv_rpn() requires special handling since ETSI TS 07.10 allows
1-byte RPN requests. Handle this by validating only the DLCI byte first,
and validating the full struct only when len > 1.

rfcomm_get_sock_by_channel() scans rfcomm_sk_list under the list lock,
but returns the selected listener after dropping that lock without
taking a reference. rfcomm_connect_ind() then locks the listener,
queues a child socket on it, and may notify it after unlocking it.
The buggy scenario involves two paths, with each column showing the
order within that path:
rfcomm_connect_ind(): listener close:
1. Find parent in 1. close() enters
rfcomm_get_sock_by_channel() rfcomm_sock_release().
2. Drop rfcomm_sk_list.lock 2. rfcomm_sock_shutdown()
without pinning parent. closes the listener.
3. Call lock_sock(parent) and 3. rfcomm_sock_kill()
bt_accept_enqueue(parent, unlinks and puts parent.
sk, true).
4. Read parent flags and may 4. parent can be freed.
call sk_state_change().
If close wins the race, parent can be freed before
rfcomm_connect_ind() reaches lock_sock(), bt_accept_enqueue(), or the
deferred-setup callback.
Take a reference on the listener before leaving rfcomm_sk_list.lock.
After lock_sock() succeeds, recheck that it is still in BT_LISTEN
before queueing a child, cache the deferred-setup bit while the parent
is locked, and drop the reference after the last parent use.
KASAN reported a slab-use-after-free in lock_sock_nested() from
rfcomm_connect_ind(), with the freeing stack going through
rfcomm_sock_kill() and rfcomm_sock_release().

bt_accept_dequeue() unlinks a not-yet-accepted child from the parent
accept queue and release_sock()s it before returning, so the returned
sk has no caller reference and is unlocked.
l2cap_sock_cleanup_listen() walks these children on listening-socket
close. A concurrent HCI disconnect drives hci_rx_work ->
l2cap_conn_del() which runs l2cap_chan_del() + l2cap_sock_kill() and
frees the child sk and its l2cap_chan; cleanup_listen() then uses both:

This is distinct from the two fixes already in this area: commit
e83f5e24da ("Bluetooth: serialize accept_q access") serialises the
accept_q list/poll and takes temporary refs inside bt_accept_dequeue(),
and CVE-2025-39860 serialises the userspace close()/accept() race by
calling cleanup_listen() under lock_sock() in l2cap_sock_release().
Neither covers l2cap_conn_del() running from hci_rx_work, so this UAF
still reproduces on current bluetooth/master.
Take the reference at the source: bt_accept_dequeue() does sock_hold()
while sk is still locked, before release_sock(); callers sock_put().
cleanup_listen() pins the chan with l2cap_chan_hold_unless_zero() under
a brief child sk lock (serialising vs l2cap_sock_teardown_cb()), drops
it before l2cap_chan_lock(), and skips a duplicate l2cap_sock_kill() on
SOCK_DEAD. conn->lock is not taken here: cleanup_listen() runs under
the parent sk lock and that would invert
conn->lock -> chan->lock -> sk_lock (lockdep).
KASAN/SMP: an unprivileged listen/close vs HCI-disconnect race produced
12 use-after-free reports per run before this change; 0, and no lockdep
report, over 1600+ raced iterations after it on bluetooth/master.

rfcomm_recv_data() treats the first payload byte as a credit field when
the UIH frame carries PF and credit-based flow control is enabled.
After the header has been stripped, the PF/CFC path consumes that byte
with a direct skb->data dereference followed by skb_pull(). A malformed
short frame can reach this path without a byte available.
Use skb_pull_data() so the length check and pull happen together before
the returned credit byte is consumed.

This is the exact same thing as the 'alloc_obj()' version, only much
smaller because there are a lot fewer users of the *alloc_flex()
interface.
As with alloc_obj() version, this was done entirely with mindless brute
force, using the same script, except using 'flex' in the pattern rather
than 'objs*'.

git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'
to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.
Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.
For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:
Single allocations: kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)
Array allocations: kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)
Flex array allocations: kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with: kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)
(where TYPE may also be *VAR)
The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

The RFCOMM driver confuses the local and remote modem control signals,
which specifically means that the reported DTR and RTS state will
instead reflect the remote end (i.e. DSR and CTS).
This issue dates back to the original driver (and a follow-on update)
merged in 2002, which resulted in a non-standard implementation of
TIOCMSET that allowed controlling also the TS07.10 IC and DV signals by
mapping them to the RI and DCD input flags, while TIOCMGET failed to
return the actual state of DTR and RTS.
Note that the bogus control of input signals in tiocmset() is just
dead code as those flags will have been masked out by the tty layer
since 2003.

The bt_copy_from_sockptr() return value is being misinterpreted by most
users: a non-zero result is mistakenly assumed to represent an error code,
but actually indicates the number of bytes that could not be copied.
Remove bt_copy_from_sockptr() and adapt callers to use
copy_safe_from_sockptr().
For sco_sock_setsockopt() (case BT_CODEC) use copy_struct_from_sockptr() to
scrub parts of uninitialized buffer.
Opportunistically, rename `len` to `optlen` in hci_sock_setsockopt_old()
and hci_sock_setsockopt().

Commit 9bf4e919cc worked around an issue introduced after an innocuous
optimisation change in LLVM main:
> len is defined as an 'int' because it is assigned from
> '__user int *optlen'. However, it is clamped against the result of
> sizeof(), which has a type of 'size_t' ('unsigned long' for 64-bit
> platforms). This is done with min_t() because min() requires compatible

The same issue occurs in rfcomm in functions rfcomm_sock_getsockopt and

Change the type of len to size_t in both rfcomm_sock_getsockopt and
rfcomm_sock_getsockopt_old and replace min_t() with min().

bt_sock_alloc() attaches allocated sk object to the provided sock object.
If rfcomm_dlc_alloc() fails, we release the sk object, but leave the
dangling pointer in the sock object, which may cause use-after-free.
Fix this by swapping calls to bt_sock_alloc() and rfcomm_dlc_alloc().

This is an effort to get rid of all multiplications from allocation
functions in order to prevent integer overflows [1][2].
As the "dl" variable is a pointer to "struct rfcomm_dev_list_req" and
this structure ends in a flexible array:

the preferred way in the kernel is to use the struct_size() helper to
do the arithmetic instead of the calculation "size + count * size" in
the kzalloc() and copy_to_user() functions.
At the same time, prepare for the coming implementation by GCC and Clang
of the __counted_by attribute. Flexible array members annotated with
__counted_by can have their accesses bounds-checked at run-time via
CONFIG_UBSAN_BOUNDS (for array indexing) and CONFIG_FORTIFY_SOURCE (for
strcpy/memcpy-family functions).
In this case, it is important to note that the logic needs a little
refactoring to ensure that the "dev_num" member is initialized before
the first access to the flex array. Specifically, add the assignment
before the list_for_each_entry() loop.
Also remove the "size" variable as it is no longer needed.
This way, the code is more readable and safer.
This code was detected with the help of Coccinelle, and audited and
modified manually.

Rather than pass in flags, error pointer, and whether this is a kernel
invocation or not, add a struct proto_accept_arg struct as the argument.
This then holds all of these arguments, and prepares accept for being
able to pass back more information.
No functional changes in this patch.

During our fuzz testing of the connection and disconnection process at the
RFCOMM layer, we discovered this bug. By comparing the packets from a
normal connection and disconnection process with the testcase that
triggered a KASAN report. We analyzed the cause of this bug as follows:
1. In the packets captured during a normal connection, the host sends a
`Read Encryption Key Size` type of `HCI_CMD` packet
(Command Opcode: 0x1408) to the controller to inquire the length of
encryption key.After receiving this packet, the controller immediately
replies with a Command Completepacket (Event Code: 0x0e) to return the
Encryption Key Size.
2. In our fuzz test case, the timing of the controller's response to this
packet was delayed to an unexpected point: after the RFCOMM and L2CAP
layers had disconnected but before the HCI layer had disconnected.
3. After receiving the Encryption Key Size Response at the time described
in point 2, the host still called the rfcomm_check_security function.
However, by this time `struct l2cap_conn *conn = l2cap_pi(sk)->chan->conn;`
had already been released, and when the function executed
`return hci_conn_security(conn->hcon, d->sec_level, auth_type, d->out);`,
specifically when accessing `conn->hcon`, a null-ptr-deref error occurred.
To fix this bug, check if `sk->sk_state` is BT_CLOSED before calling
rfcomm_recv_frame in rfcomm_process_rx.

syzbot reports a possible deadlock in rfcomm_sk_state_change [1].
While rfcomm_sock_connect acquires the sk lock and waits for
the rfcomm lock, rfcomm_sock_release could have the rfcomm
lock and hit a deadlock for acquiring the sk lock.
Here's a simplified flow:

It is not allowed to call kfree_skb() from hardware interrupt
context or with interrupts being disabled. So replace kfree_skb()
with dev_kfree_skb_irq() under spin_lock_irqsave().

Due to change to switch to use lock_sock inside rfcomm_sk_state_change
the socket shutdown/release procedure can cause a deadlock:
