bf4afc53b7 Convert 'alloc_obj' family to use the new default GFP_KERNEL argument
This was done entirely with mindless brute force, using

    git grep -l '\<k[vmz]*alloc_objs*(.*, GFP_KERNEL)' |
        xargs sed -i 's/\(alloc_objs*(.*\), GFP_KERNEL)/\1)/'

to convert the new alloc_obj() users that had a simple GFP_KERNEL
argument to just drop that argument.

Note that due to the extreme simplicity of the scripting, any slightly
more complex cases spread over multiple lines would not be triggered:
they definitely exist, but this covers the vast bulk of the cases, and
the resulting diff is also then easier to check automatically.

For the same reason the 'flex' versions will be done as a separate
conversion.

69050f8d6d treewide: Replace kmalloc with kmalloc_obj for non-scalar types
This is the result of running the Coccinelle script from
scripts/coccinelle/api/kmalloc_objs.cocci. The script is designed to
avoid scalar types (which need careful case-by-case checking), and
instead replace kmalloc-family calls that allocate struct or union
object instances:

Single allocations:	kmalloc(sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_obj(TYPE, ...)

Array allocations:	kmalloc_array(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_objs(TYPE, COUNT, ...)

Flex array allocations:	kmalloc(struct_size(PTR, FAM, COUNT), ...)
are replaced with:	kmalloc_flex(*PTR, FAM, COUNT, ...)

(where TYPE may also be *VAR)

The resulting allocations no longer return "void *", instead returning
"TYPE *".

7cd122b552 Merge tag 'pull-persistency' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/viro/vfs
Pull persistent dentry infrastructure and conversion from Al Viro:
"Some filesystems use a kinda-sorta controlled dentry refcount leak to
pin dentries of created objects in dcache (and undo it when removing
those). A reference is grabbed and not released, but it's not actually
  _stored_ anywhere.

That works, but it's hard to follow and verify; among other things, we
have no way to tell _which_ of the increments is intended to be an
unpaired one. Worse, on removal we need to decide whether the
reference had already been dropped, which can be non-trivial if that
removal is on umount and we need to figure out if this dentry is
pinned due to e.g. unlink() not done. Usually that is handled by using
kill_litter_super() as ->kill_sb(), but there are open-coded special
cases of the same (consider e.g. /proc/self).

Things get simpler if we introduce a new dentry flag
(DCACHE_PERSISTENT) marking those "leaked" dentries. Having it set
claims responsibility for +1 in refcount.

The end result this series is aiming for:

   - get these unbalanced dget() and dput() replaced with new primitives
that would, in addition to adjusting refcount, set and clear
     persistency flag.

   - instead of having kill_litter_super() mess with removing the
remaining "leaked" references (e.g. for all tmpfs files that hadn't
been removed prior to umount), have the regular
shrink_dcache_for_umount() strip DCACHE_PERSISTENT of all dentries,
dropping the corresponding reference if it had been set. After that
kill_litter_super() becomes an equivalent of kill_anon_super().

Doing that in a single step is not feasible - it would affect too many
places in too many filesystems. It has to be split into a series.

This work has really started early in 2024; quite a few preliminary
pieces have already gone into mainline. This chunk is finally getting
to the meat of that stuff - infrastructure and most of the conversions
  to it.

Some pieces are still sitting in the local branches, but the bulk of
  that stuff is here"

c3d17464f0 s390: Remove KMSG_COMPONENT macro
The KMSG_COMPONENT macro is a leftover of the s390 specific "kernel
message catalog" which never made it upstream.

Remove the macro in order to get rid of a pointless indirection. Replace
all users with the string it defines. In almost all cases this leads to a
simple replacement like this:

 - #define KMSG_COMPONENT "appldata"
 - #define pr_fmt(fmt) KMSG_COMPONENT ": " fmt
 + #define pr_fmt(fmt) "appldata: " fmt

Except for some special cases this is just mechanical/scripted work.

781716cd4a hypfs: don't pin dentries twice
hypfs dentries end up with refcount 2 when they are not busy.
Refcount 1 is enough to keep them pinned, and going that way
allows to simplify things nicely:
	* don't need to drop an extra reference before the
call of kill_litter_super() in ->kill_sb(); all we need
there is to reset the cleanup list - everything on it will
be taken out automatically.
	* we can make use of simple_recursive_removal() on
tree rebuilds; just make sure that only children of root
end up in the cleanup list and hypfs_delete_tree() becomes
much simpler

Remove the compat layer support required to run 31 bit code.

Reason for removal is code simplification and reduced test effort.

Note that this comes without any deprecation warnings added to config

anyway.

If it turns out there is still a reason to keep the compat layer this
can be reverted at any time in the future.

3868f91044 s390/hypfs: Enable limited access during lockdown
When kernel lockdown is active, debugfs_locked_down() blocks access to
hypfs files that register ioctl callbacks, even if the ioctl interface
is not required for a function. This unnecessarily breaks userspace
tools that only rely on read operations.

Resolve this by registering a minimal set of file operations during
lockdown, avoiding ioctl registration and preserving access for affected
tooling.

Note that this change restores hypfs functionality when lockdown is
active from early boot (e.g. via lockdown=integrity kernel parameter),
but does not apply to scenarios where lockdown is enabled dynamically
while Linux is running.

fec7bdfe7f s390/hypfs: Avoid unnecessary ioctl registration in debugfs
Currently, hypfs registers ioctl callbacks for all debugfs files,
despite only one file requiring them. This leads to unintended exposure
of unused interfaces to user space and can trigger side effects such as
restricted access when kernel lockdown is enabled.

Restrict ioctl registration to only those files that implement ioctl
functionality to avoid interface clutter and unnecessary access
restrictions.

c64d6be1a6 s390: Handle KCOV __init vs inline mismatches
When KCOV is enabled all functions get instrumented, unless
the __no_sanitize_coverage attribute is used. To prepare for
__no_sanitize_coverage being applied to __init functions, we have to
handle differences in how GCC's inline optimizations get resolved. For
s390 this exposed a place where the __init annotation was missing but
ended up being "accidentally correct". Fix this cases and force a couple
functions to be inline with __always_inline.

fa6fe07d15 VFS: rename lookup_one_len family to lookup_noperm and remove permission check
The lookup_one_len family of functions is (now) only used internally by
a filesystem on itself either
- in a context where permission checking is irrelevant such as by a
virtual filesystem populating itself, or xfs accessing its ORPHANAGE
or dquota accessing the quota file; or
- in a context where a permission check (MAY_EXEC on the parent) has just
been performed such as a network filesystem finding in "silly-rename"
file in the same directory. This is also the context after the
_parentat() functions where currently lookup_one_qstr_excl() is used.

So the permission check is pointless.

The name "one_len" is unhelpful in understanding the purpose of these
functions and should be changed. Most of the callers pass the len as
"strlen()" so using a qstr and QSTR() can simplify the code.

This patch renames these functions (include lookup_positive_unlocked()
which is part of the family despite the name) to have a name based on
"lookup_noperm". They are changed to receive a 'struct qstr' instead
of separate name and len. In a few cases the use of QSTR() results in a
new call to strlen().

try_lookup_noperm() takes a pointer to a qstr instead of the whole
qstr. This is consistent with d_hash_and_lookup() (which is nearly
identical) and useful for lookup_noperm_unlocked().

The new lookup_noperm_common() doesn't take a qstr yet. That will be
tidied up in a subsequent patch.

cb787f4ac0 [tree-wide] finally take no_llseek out
no_llseek had been defined to NULL two years ago, in commit 868941b144

  git grep -l -w no_llseek | grep -v porting.rst | while read i; do
	sed -i '/\<no_llseek\>/d' $i

  would do it.

Unfortunately, that hadn't been done. Linus, could you do that now, so

4f7a31a7ef s390/hypfs_diag: Remove unused dentry variable
Remove leftover dentry variable after hypfs refactoring.

Before 2fcb3686e1, hypfs_diag.c and other hypfs files were using
debugfs_create_file() explicitly for creating debugfs files and
were storing the returned pointer.

After the refactor, common debugfs file operations and also the
related dentry pointers have been moved into hypfs_dbfs.c and
redefined as new common mechanisms.
Therefore the dentry variable and the debugfs_remove() function
calls in hypfs_diag.c are now redundant.

Current code is not effected since the dentry pointer in
hypfs_diag is implicitly assigned to NULL and debugfs_remove()
returns without an error if the passed pointer is NULL.

3325b4d857 s390/hypfs: factor out filesystem code
The s390_hypfs filesystem is deprecated and shouldn't be used due to its
rather odd semantics. It creates a whole directory structure with static
file contents so a user can read a consistent state while within that
directory.
Writing to its update attribute will remove and rebuild nearly the whole
filesystem, so that again a user can read a consistent state, even if
multiple files need to be read.

Given that this wastes a lot of CPU cycles, and involves a lot of code,
binary interfaces have been added quite a couple of years ago, which simply
pass the binary data to user space, and let user space decode the data.
This is the preferred and only way how the data should be retrieved.

The assumption is that there are no users of the s390_hypfs filesystem.
However instead of just removing the code, and having to revert in case
there are actually users, factor the filesystem code out and make it only
available via a new config option.

This config option is supposed to be disabled. If it turns out there are no
complaints the filesystem code can be removed probably in a couple of

663d34c8df s390/hypfs: include z/VM guests with access control group set
Currently if z/VM guest is allowed to retrieve hypervisor performance
data globally for all guests (privilege class B) the query is formed in a
way to include all guests but the group name is left empty. This leads to

in the results (even local vm).

Change the query group identifier from empty to "any" to retrieve
information about all guests from any groups (or without a group set).

c78d0c7484 s390: rename dma section to amode31
The dma section name is confusing, since the code which resides within
that section has nothing to do with direct memory access. Instead the
limitation is that the code has to run in 31 bit addressing mode, and
therefore has to reside below 2GB. So the name was chosen since
ZONE_DMA is the same region.

To reduce confusion rename the section to amode31, which hopefully
describes better what this is about.

Note: this will also change vmcoreinfo strings
- SDMA=... gets renamed to SAMODE31=...
- EDMA=... gets renamed to EAMODE31=...

a80313ff91 s390/kernel: introduce .dma sections
With a relocatable kernel that could reside at any place in memory, code
and data that has to stay below 2 GB needs special handling.

This patch introduces .dma sections for such text, data and ex_table.
The sections will be part of the decompressor kernel, so they will not
be relocated and stay below 2 GB. Their location is passed over to the
decompressed / relocated kernel via the .boot.preserved.data section.

The duald and aste for control register setup also need to stay below
2 GB, so move the setup code from arch/s390/kernel/head64.S to
arch/s390/boot/head.S. The duct and linkage_stack could reside above
2 GB, but their content has to be preserved for the decompresed kernel,
so they are also moved into the .dma section.

The start and end address of the .dma sections is added to vmcoreinfo,
for crash support, to help debugging in case the kernel crashed there.
