95ed01ea97 dma-fence: Make ->enable_signaling optional
Many drivers have a trivial implementation for ->enable_signaling.
Let's make it optional by assuming that signalling is already
available when the callback isn't present.

aee1a37d0f dma-fence: remove fill_driver_data callback
Noticed while I was typing docs. Entirely unused.

v2: Remove reference in @timeline_value_str too. While at it clarify
why timeline_value_str has a fence parameter - we don't have an
explicit timeline structure unfortunately.

e84fcb95e0 drm/vc4: Export fence through syncobj
Allow specifying a syncobj on render job submission where we store the
fence for the job. This gives userland flexible access to the fence.

ebb513adb1 drm/dp: Rename the edp_sdp_header as dp_sdp_header
No functional changes in this patch.

The SDP Header is a generic header for secondary data packets for
both eDP and DP so call it dp_sdp_header. This header gets used for
different SDP types already defined.
Also header bytes 2 and 3 are secondary data packet specific header bytes.
So change the comment to indicate the same.

30d23f220c drm/atomic: better doc for implicit vs explicit fencing
Note that a pile of drivers don't seem to take implicit fencing into
account, or at least don't call drm_atoimc_set_fence_for_plane().
Cc'ing relevant people, or at least some. Some drivers also look like
they don't disable implicit fencing (e.g. amdgpu) because the explicit
fences and implicit fences are handled by entirely independent code
paths.

I also wonder whether we shouldn't just make the recommended helpers
the default ones, since a lot of drivers don't bother to handle the
implicit fences at all it seems. The helpers won't blow up even for
non-GEM drivers or GEM drivers which don't fill out the gem bo
pointers in struct drm_framebuffer.

7bb3bb4d56 drm/bridge: analogix_dp: Split the platform-specific poweron in two parts
Some of the platform-specific stuff in rockchip_dp_poweron() needs to
happen before the generic code.  Some needs to happen after.  Let's
split the callback in two.

Specifically we can't start doing PSR work until _after_ the whole
controller is up, so don't set the enable until the end.

ae0e28265e drm/blend: Add a generic alpha property
Some drivers duplicate the logic to create a property to store a per-plane
alpha.

This is especially useful if we ever want to support extra protocols for
Wayland like:

bee330f3d6 drm: Use srcu to protect drm_device.unplugged
Use srcu to protect drm_device.unplugged in a race free manner.
Drivers can use drm_dev_enter()/drm_dev_exit() to protect and mark
sections preventing access to device resources that are not available
after the device is gone.

e85d30060e drm/tinydrm: Make fb_dirty into a lower level hook
mipi_dbi_enable_flush() wants to call the fb->dirty() hook from the
bowels of the .atomic_enable() hook. That prevents us from taking the
plane mutex in fb->dirty() unless we also plumb down the acquire
context.

Instead it seems simpler to split the fb->dirty() into a tinydrm
specific lower level hook that can be called from
mipi_dbi_enable_flush() and from a generic higher level
tinydrm_fb_dirty() helper. As we don't have a tinydrm specific
vfuncs table we'll just stick it into tinydrm_device directly
for now.

f59f1caf72 Revert "mm: page_alloc: skip over regions of invalid pfns where possible"
This reverts commit b92df1de5d ("mm: page_alloc: skip over regions of
invalid pfns where possible").  The commit is meant to be a boot init
speed up skipping the loop in memmap_init_zone() for invalid pfns.

But given some specific memory mapping on x86_64 (or more generally
theoretically anywhere but on arm with CONFIG_HAVE_ARCH_PFN_VALID) the
implementation also skips valid pfns which is plain wrong and causes
'kernel BUG at mm/page_alloc.c:1389!'

b6bdb7517c mm/vmalloc: add interfaces to free unmapped page table
On architectures with CONFIG_HAVE_ARCH_HUGE_VMAP set, ioremap() may
create pud/pmd mappings.  A kernel panic was observed on arm64 systems
with Cortex-A75 in the following steps as described by Hanjun Guo.

 1. ioremap a 4K size, valid page table will build,
 2. iounmap it, pte0 will set to 0;
 3. ioremap the same address with 2M size, pgd/pmd is unchanged,
    then set the a new value for pmd;
 4. pte0 is leaked;
 5. CPU may meet exception because the old pmd is still in TLB,
    which will lead to kernel panic.

This panic is not reproducible on x86.  INVLPG, called from iounmap,
purges all levels of entries associated with purged address on x86.  x86
still has memory leak.

The patch changes the ioremap path to free unmapped page table(s) since
doing so in the unmap path has the following issues:

 - The iounmap() path is shared with vunmap(). Since vmap() only
   supports pte mappings, making vunmap() to free a pte page is an
   overhead for regular vmap users as they do not need a pte page freed
   up.

 - Checking if all entries in a pte page are cleared in the unmap path
   is racy, and serializing this check is expensive.

 - The unmap path calls free_vmap_area_noflush() to do lazy TLB purges.
   Clearing a pud/pmd entry before the lazy TLB purges needs extra TLB
   purge.

Add two interfaces, pud_free_pmd_page() and pmd_free_pte_page(), which
clear a given pud/pmd entry and free up a page for the lower level
entries.

This patch implements their stub functions on x86 and arm64, which work
as workaround.

5df7af85ec net: phy: Add general dummy stubs for MMD register access
For some phy devices, even though they don't support the MMD extended
register access, it does have some side effect if we are trying to
read/write the MMD registers via indirect method. So introduce general
dummy stubs for MMD register access which these devices can use to avoid
such side effect.

7c181f4fcd mac80211: add ieee80211_hw flag for QoS NDP support
Commit 7b6ddeaf27 ("mac80211: use QoS NDP for AP probing") added an
argument qos_ok to ieee80211_nullfunc_get to support QoS NDP. Despite
the claim in the commit log "Change all the drivers to *not* allow
QoS NDP for now, even though it looks like most of them should be OK
with that", this commit enables QoS NDP in response to beacons (see
change to mlme.c:ieee80211_send_nullfunc), causing ath9k_htc to lose
IP connectivity. See:

     still for the mlx driver and ucma interface.

   - Fix a situation with port reuse for iWarp, discovered during
     scale-up testing

   - Bug fixes for the profile and restrack patches accepted during this
     merge window

   - Compile warning cleanups from Arnd, this is apparently the last
     warning to make 32 bit builds quiet"

578ae447e7 jump_label: Disable jump labels in __exit code
With the following commit:

  3335224470 ("jump_label: Explicitly disable jump labels in __init code")

... we explicitly disabled jump labels in __init code, so they could be
detected and not warned about in the following commit:

  dc1dd184c2 ("jump_label: Warn on failed jump_label patching attempt")

In-kernel __exit code has the same issue.  It's never used, so it's
freed along with the rest of initmem.  But jump label entries in __exit
code aren't explicitly disabled, so we get the following warning when
enabling pr_debug() in __exit code:

  can't patch jump_label at dmi_sysfs_exit+0x0/0x2d
  WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 22572 at kernel/jump_label.c:376 __jump_label_update+0x9d/0xb0

Fix the warning by disabling all jump labels in initmem (which includes
both __init and __exit code).

 "Late percpu pull request for v4.16-rc6.

   - percpu allocator pool replenishing no longer triggers OOM or
     warning messages.

     Also, the alloc interface now understands __GFP_NORETRY and
     __GFP_NOWARN. This is to allow avoiding OOMs from userland
     triggered actions like bpf map creation.

     Also added cond_resched() in alloc loop.

   - perpcu allocation now can be interrupted by kill sigs to avoid
     deadlocking OOM killer.

   - Added Dennis Zhou as a co-maintainer.

     He has rewritten the area map allocator, understands most of the
     code base and has been responsive for all bug reports"
