ed323aeda5 selftest/futex: Compile also with libnuma < 2.0.16
After using numa_set_mempolicy_home_node() the test fails to compile on
systems with libnuma library versioned lower than 2.0.16.

In order to allow lower library version add a pkg-config related check
and exclude that part of the code. Without the proper MPOL setup it
can't be tested.

Make a total number of tests two. The first one is the first batch and
the second is the MPOL related one. The goal is to let the user know if
it has been skipped due to library limitation.

Remove test_futex_mpol(), it was unused and it is now complained by the
compiler if the part is not compiled.

2951dddef0 selftest/futex: Reintroduce "Memory out of range" numa_mpol's subtest
Commit d8e2f91999 ("selftests/futex: Fix some futex_numa_mpol
subtests") removed the "Memory out of range" subtest due to it being
dependent on the memory layout of the test process having an invalid
memory address just after the `*futex_ptr` allocated memory.

Reintroduce this test and make it deterministic, by allocation two
memory pages and marking the second one with PROT_NONE.

237bfb76c9 selftests/futex: Fix futex_wait() for 32bit ARM
On 32bit ARM systems gcc-12 will use 32bit timestamps while gcc-13 and later
will use 64bit timestamps. The problem is that SYS_futex will continue
pointing at the 32bit system call. This makes the futex_wait test fail like
this:

  waiter failed errno 110
not ok 1 futex_wake private returned: 0 Success
  waiter failed errno 110
not ok 2 futex_wake shared (page anon) returned: 0 Success
  waiter failed errno 110
not ok 3 futex_wake shared (file backed) returned: 0 Success

Instead of compiling differently depending on the gcc version, use the
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -D_TIME_BITS=64 options to ensure that 64bit timestamps
are used. Then use ifdefs to make SYS_futex point to the 64bit system call.

d8e2f91999 selftests/futex: Fix some futex_numa_mpol subtests
The "Memory out of range" subtest of futex_numa_mpol assumes that memory
access outside of the mmap'ed area is invalid. That may not be the case
depending on the actual memory layout of the test application. When that
subtest was run on an x86-64 system with latest upstream kernel, the test
passed as an error was returned from futex_wake(). On another PowerPC system,
the same subtest failed because futex_wake() returned 0.

Bail out! futex2_wake(64, 0x86) should fail, but didn't

Looking further into the passed subtest on x86-64, it was found that an
-EINVAL was returned instead of -EFAULT. The -EINVAL error was returned
because the node value test with FLAGS_NUMA set failed with a node value
of 0x7f7f. IOW, the futex memory was accessible and futex_wake() failed
because the supposed node number wasn't valid. If that memory location
happens to have a very small value (e.g. 0), the test will pass and no
error will be returned.

Since this subtest is non-deterministic, drop it unless a guard page beyond
the mmap region is explicitly set.

The other problematic test is the "Memory too small" test. The futex_wake()
function returns the -EINVAL error code because the given futex address isn't
8-byte aligned, not because only 4 of the 8 bytes are valid and the other
4 bytes are not. So change the name of this subtest to "Mis-aligned futex" to
reflect the reality.

a255b78d14 selftests/futex: Adapt the private hash test to RCU related changes
The auto scaling on create creation used to automatically assign the new
hash because there was the private hash was unused and could be replaced
right away.

This is already racy because if the private hash is in use by a thread
then the visibile resize will be delayed. With the upcoming change to
wait for a RCU grace period before the hash can be assigned, the test
will always fail.

If the reported number of hash buckets is not updated after an
auto scaling event, block on an acquired lock with a timeout. The timeout
is the delay to wait towards a grace period and locking and a locked
pthread_mutex_t ensure that glibc calls into kernel using futex
operation which will assign new private hash if available.
This will retry every 100ms up to 2 seconds in total.

0ecb4232fc selftests/futex: Set the home_node in futex_numa_mpol
The test fails at the MPOL step if multiple nodes are available. The
reason is that mbind() sets the policy but the home_node, which is

cc937dad85 selftests: centralize -D_GNU_SOURCE= to CFLAGS in lib.mk
Centralize the _GNU_SOURCE definition to CFLAGS in lib.mk. Remove
redundant defines from Makefiles that import lib.mk. Convert any usage of
"#define _GNU_SOURCE 1" to "#define _GNU_SOURCE".

This uses the form "-D_GNU_SOURCE=", which is equivalent to
"#define _GNU_SOURCE".

Otherwise using "-D_GNU_SOURCE" is equivalent to "-D_GNU_SOURCE=1" and
"#define _GNU_SOURCE 1", which is less commonly seen in source code and
would require many changes in selftests to avoid redefinition warnings.

4bf15b1c65 selftests/futex: don't pass a const char* to asprintf(3)
When building with clang, via:

    make LLVM=1 -C tools/testing/selftests

...clang issues this warning:

futex_requeue_pi.c:403:17: warning: passing 'const char **' to parameter
of type 'char **' discards qualifiers in nested pointer types
[-Wincompatible-pointer-types-discards-qualifiers]

This warning fires because test_name is passed into asprintf(3), which
then changes it.

Fix this by simply removing the const qualifier. This is a local
automatic variable in a very short function, so there is not much need
to use the compiler to enforce const-ness at this scope.

cb708ab9f5 selftests/futex: pass _GNU_SOURCE without a value to the compiler
It's slightly better to set _GNU_SOURCE in the source code, but if one
must do it via the compiler invocation, then the best way to do so is
this:

    $(CC) -D_GNU_SOURCE=

...because otherwise, if this form is used:

    $(CC) -D_GNU_SOURCE

...then that leads the compiler to set a value, as if you had passed in:

    $(CC) -D_GNU_SOURCE=1

That, in turn, leads to warnings under both gcc and clang, like this:

    futex_requeue_pi.c:20: warning: "_GNU_SOURCE" redefined

Fix this by using the "-D_GNU_SOURCE=" form.

f17d8a87ec selftests: fuxex: Report a unique test name per run of futex_requeue_pi
The futex_requeue_pi test program is run a number of times with different
options to provide multiple test cases. Currently every time it runs it
reports the result with a consistent string, meaning that automated systems
parsing the TAP output from a test run have difficulty in distinguishing
which test is which.

The parameters used for the test are already logged as part of the test
output, let's use the same format to roll them into the test name that we
use with KTAP so that automated systems can follow the results of the
individual cases that get run.

fbf4dec702 selftests/futex: Order calls to futex_lock_pi
Observed occassional failures in the futex_wait_timeout test:

ok 1 futex_wait relative succeeds
ok 2 futex_wait_bitset realtime succeeds
ok 3 futex_wait_bitset monotonic succeeds
ok 4 futex_wait_requeue_pi realtime succeeds
ok 5 futex_wait_requeue_pi monotonic succeeds
not ok 6 futex_lock_pi realtime returned 0
......

The test expects the child thread to complete some steps before
the parent thread gets to run. There is an implicit expectation
of the order of invocation of futex_lock_pi between the child thread
and the parent thread. Make this order explicit. If the order is
not met, the futex_lock_pi call in the parent thread succeeds and
will not timeout.
