buffer.h supplies everything needed for devices using buffers.
buffer_impl.h supplies access to the internals as needed to write
a buffer implementation.
This was really motivated by the mess that turned up in the
kernel-doc documentation pulled in by the new sphinx docs.
It made it clear that our logical separations in headers were
generally terrible. The buffer case was easy to sort out without
greatly effecting drivers so here it is.

Gravity sensor is a soft sensor, which derives value from
standard accelerometer device by filtering out the acceleration
which is not caused by gravity.
Gravity sensor provides a three dimensional vector indicating
the direction and magnitude of gravity. Typically, this sensor
is used to determine the device's relative orientation in space.
The units and the coordinate system is the same as the one used by
the acceleration sensor.
When a device is at rest, the output of the gravity sensor should
be identical to that of the accelerometer.

Gravity sensor and accelerometer have similar channels and
share channel usage ids. So the most of the code for accel_3d
can be reused.

Added timestamp channel. With this change, each sample has a timestamp.
This timestamp can be from the sensor hub when present or local kernel
timestamp. HID sensors can send timestamp with input data using usage id
HID_USAGE_SENSOR_TIME_TIMESTAMP. This timestamp value is converted to
nano seconds before pushing this sample to the iio core.

Specifically a helper for reading the available maximum raw value of a
channel and a helper for forwarding read_avail requests for raw values
from one iio driver to an iio channel that is consumed.

A large number of attributes can only take a limited range of values.
Currently in IIO this is handled by directly registering additional
*_available attributes thus providing this information to userspace.
It is desirable to provide this information via the core for much the same
reason this was done for the actual channel information attributes in the
first place. If it isn't there, then it can only really be accessed from
userspace. Other in kernel IIO consumers have no access to what valid
parameters are.
Two forms are currently supported:
* list of values in one particular IIO_VAL_* format.
e.g. 1.300000 1.500000 1.730000
* range specification with a step size:
e.g. [1.000000 0.500000 2.500000]
equivalent to 1.000000 1.5000000 2.000000 2.500000
An addition set of masks are used to allow different sharing rules for the
*_available attributes generated.
This allows for example:
in_accel_x_offset
in_accel_y_offset
in_accel_offset_available.
We could have gone with having a specification for each and every
info_mask element but that would have meant changing the existing userspace
ABI. This approach does not.

This reverts commit 05fd007e46 ("console: don't prefer first
registered if DT specifies stdout-path").
The reverted commit changes existing behavior on which many ARM boards
rely. Many ARM small-board-computers, like e.g. the Raspberry Pi have
both a video output and a serial console. Depending on whether the user
is using the device as a more regular computer; or as a headless device
we need to have the console on either one or the other.
Many users rely on the kernel behavior of the console being present on
both outputs, before the reverted commit the console setup with no
console= kernel arguments on an ARM board which sets stdout-path in dt
would look like this:

Where as after the reverted commit, it looks like this:

Turns out kmemleak is right. We now allocate the frontswap map
depending on the kernel config (and no longer on the enablement)
swapfile.c:

Thing is, that frontswap map is never freed.
The leakage is relatively not that bad, because swapon is an infrequent
and privileged operation. However, if the first frontswap backend is
registered after a swap type has been already enabled, it will WARN_ON
in frontswap_register_ops() and frontswap will not be available for the
swap type.
Fix this by making sure the map is assigned by frontswap_init() as long
as CONFIG_FRONTSWAP is enabled.

osdc->last_linger_id is a counter for lreq->linger_id, which is used
for watch cookies. Starting with a large integer should ease the task
of telling apart kernel and userspace clients.

We have a couple of drivers, acpi_apd.c and acpi_lpss.c,
that need to pass extra build-in properties to the devices
they create. Previously the drivers added those properties
to the struct device which is member of the struct
acpi_device, but that does not work. Those properties need
to be assigned to the struct device of the platform device
instead in order for them to become available to the
drivers.
To fix this, this patch changes acpi_create_platform_device
function to take struct property_entry pointer as parameter.

Commit 345ddcc882 ("ftrace: Have set_ftrace_pid use the bitmap like
events do") added a couple of this_cpu_read calls to the ftrace code.
On x86 this is not a problem, since it has single instructions to read
percpu data. Other architectures which use the generic variant now
have additional preempt_disable and preempt_enable calls in the core
ftrace code. This may lead to recursive calls and in result to a dead
machine, e.g. if preemption and debugging options are enabled.
To fix this use the notrace variant of preempt_disable and
preempt_enable within the generic percpu code.

Currently we dropped freeze protection of aio writes just after IO was
submitted. Thus aio write could be in flight while the filesystem was
frozen and that could result in unexpected situation like aio completion
wanting to convert extent type on frozen filesystem. Testcase from
Dmitry triggering this is like:

Fix the problem by dropping freeze protection only once IO is completed
in aio_complete().

When vxlan device is closed vxlan socket is freed. This
operation can race with vxlan-xmit function which
dereferences vxlan socket. Following patch uses RCU
mechanism to avoid this situation.

Currently interrupt test that is part of ethtool selftest runs the
check over all interrupt vectors of the device.
In mlx4_en package part of interrupt vectors are uninitialized since
mlx4_ib doesn't exist. This causes NOP FW command to time out.
Change logic to test current port interrupt vectors only.
